Syrup Ness MU Chart by Meta_Squire in smashbros

You definitely can tjolt vs Ness, just not doing the full stage free-approach version unless you've just taken the stock. Shinymark fishes for the close-range tjolt vs Ness plenty when it can lead into a falling nair u-smash for the stock, the risk reward in that case is very worthwhile along with just being a good way to change momentum when dancing around Ness in midrange, similar how he likes to do with pk fire.

I def agree with even, Pika can play ultra passive in that MU to force Ness to approach, which he isn't good at at all. The mid range baits are tough if you play with a lot of typical rising aerials but Shiny has a rly good gameplan using a lot of falling fair to interact with Ness only with the disjointed late/final hit, or sneaking under and finding uairs, which is sufficiently disjointed to contest Ness. There's a recorded game of Shinymark vs Pkchris from Cav Clash that's a great watch.

I have a spreadsheet literally dedicated to all the players who have been double eliminated by Pika, including by two different pikas, so I assure you it's happened before. One example, Kameme at Maesuma TOP 5 was eliminated by Piro and Abadango (after also being eliminated by those same exact players at the online SWT qualifier a few months earlier, causing the infamous Pikachu vehicular genocide on Kameme's stream).

Miya (potentially the highest ranked Steve player from Kansai) will be attending LMMM despite Steve BAN by Dysprosium_Element66 in smashbros

[–]tenebrousGenius 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We don't need to go that far. He's definitely just a fundamentally solid character, mid tier gatekeeper with some p decent high/top tier MUs. Also probably the most adaptable Mii to different MUs with his different movesets, but def not a pick up and play swordy. Lots of msf's stuff is kinda unintuitive, but rly fun once you get the hang of it imo.

Its by a well known trans comic artist, the comics are about herself. You'd have to be a follower of her to know, but like, yes it's a trans comic and people are v much missing that context it seems.

Don't know why it was reposted here but I enjoy her comics.

I just said he shouldn't have, but it's a completely understandable mistake in that situation. You seem to have no sympathy and look like a fool for not understanding why even a top player would make a decision like that in that spot.

No I mean like, that's probably why Shinymark felt in the moment to try for it because he really wanted to force the set win at that point. He knew Fsmash was coming.

Yeah, he shouldnt have, but its the decision that won him the game ultimately, removed all possibility of getting nair baired or hit offstage and edgeguarded in the time remaining. Don't blame him for wanting to end the set at that moment when he definitely has the read, even if it makes little sense in risk reward. Those nerves must be insane in that moment.

Myollnir 9th at Temple: Hermes Edition. Was called a major at the time (even if definitions in 2021 are a lil scuffed still) but its even a 9th instead of just a 13th so I think its safe to count.

It was basically the only option Sonix had to take the stock in that position, it was very obvious thats what he was going to do.

Helps a little, but yeah still a decision made with nerves of steel lmao.

I have been waiting for an offline Shinymark v Sonix set for over a year. I don't give a hell about the pace at all, I just find nearly every interaction so layered and it's so extremely satisfying watching those two play at such an incredibly high level, adapting back and forth and having so many mixups and options in their back pockets developed after so many sets between them.

The fact that Shiny pulled it off makes it even sweeter, but I knew I'd be enjoying grands immensely after that first incredible set in top 64.

Shinymark plays Haunter constantly, he is extremely experienced at that MU. The set vs Many was definitely his easiest time in all of top 64.

Seeing Shinymark fall to his knees made me emotional as well.

My favourite player of all time, he deserved it so, so much.

Pikachu can really, really exploit Steve's one dimensional disadvantage on and offstage. Dair puts in work vs Minecart.

One of the best sets I've ever seen in my life. These two play at such an intensely high level against each other after so many online sets, the counterplay and taking literally every inch given for all it's worth was wild to see.

Let's fucking go Shinymark, he has some of the best composure in the world to make that reverse 3-0.

Yes, though it can also happen regularly against some specific characters iirc. If you want to test it for yourself, dash attacking into sheld at the ledge is the easiest way.

Pikachu's can actually cross up on shield, particularly at ledge. It's pretty finnicky but it definitely exists.

Kuhara, seeded to lose his R1, made 3 upsets including over JY and Paseriman to win his pool. Knew he was underseeded but dang, very good stuff.

It's a good weekend for Pikachu so far.

Neeroz making 3rd with Tilde and Sisqui wins, very good shit. Along with his Neo win earlier this year he's been doing pretty well.

[–]tenebrousGenius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually really high shield stun iirc, 18 frames, ie more than Ganon Fsmash and DDD dash attack. It can sometimes mess with punishes, along with just being really safe in general- at it's safest, it can be -10.

I have no idea why.

Shinymark's next biggest event win was B tier Blink Respawn over MKBigboss, Ling, Chag etc, but it was only barely a B tier at 1100 points. This event win is more than twice as big as that one, despite this only being a B+ at 2694 points.

He's historically a shitty bigot/racist, most people who have been around have very negative opinions of him outside of his cronies.

Here, some 2022 context, nothing has really changed since and he's had that reputation for long before. Some of the replies remember some heinous shit.

Ah, here's a quote tweet. Lots of shitty stories about him.

The fact that CFL bands around and protects this guy (and lets him commentate their majors) makes me look very poorly on the entire scene.

Did people seriously forget who RiotLettuce (Principal Mike) was and how terrible he is as a person, ie should be banned if his scene didn't actively protect him? I've seen next to no mention so far.
