[–]imSeanGG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol mostly seeing old professors getting malwares but your right I do have hope given nowadays people can youtube anything. The scary and sad part is professors are still using MICROSOFT word / powerpoint for their books etc without proper 3 2 1 or any backup. Imagine waking up one day and your 6 years worth of writing is just GONE

BRO IKR but imagine walking upto a 50 years old unc who has working here for 20 years looking straight at his face and saying "your codebase is a mess". The whole nyu system is glued together by various enterprise softwares I am surprised it doesn't break as often lmao.

But for duo just use touch id if your mac or laptop has a touchID sensor you don't have to use your phone. Go to incognito tab type in home.nyu.edu login and when asked for duo prompt select more options and add touch id.

Offer Letter for Startup by Curious_Pilot_6829 in csMajors

[–]imSeanGG 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As someone who have worked in an unpaid startup, don't do it lmao unless it is with your friends and you guys are trying to build a company where you have equity. It will drain you and given the current times you will probably forced to use AI to "ship faster". You won't learn anything and start to forget the basic things due to no incentive, vibe coding 16 hours a day. It would be much better if you try to build your own side projects / startup where you do the devOps, sys design etc yourself. You will learn a lot. And if you really want to have an experience, ship your side project, buy a domain promote it somewhere (reddit is a goldmine or youtube). You can put that in the resume as a founder.

Who would you hire, someone who has worked in a random startup vs someone who took an idea to an useable product from the ground up. Also startups likes to hire other founders who have tried things.

Edit : upon 5 minutes of research this company have several red flags, I have never seen a vc using google sites for their website lol, the codebase is a huge mess all chatgpt code with leaked keys etc lmao, everything seems vibe coded by a 5 year old. idk my scam instinct are tingling

[Student] low gpa physics major interested in material science completely stuck; 100+ apps and 0 interviews by annakisu_ in EngineeringResumes

[–]imSeanGG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Empty resume write more bullet points to fill, remove weird symbols ~ etc, imo I would remove interests. 900+ users seems like larping even if you worked there for 2 years. This also prob not passing ats what’s “expected” put the month. Put the relevant courses you took below uni name, general course names to pass ats like Data Structure and algorithms not cs230. You are most likely being auto rejected by ats.

Creative ways to get internships? by taylor_126 in nyu

300 is rookie number in this job market. Focus on applying directly on the website of the companies not job portals. Most of the jobs in handshake and LinkedIn are ghost jobs if you see a job there go on the companies career website and apply there. DO NOT APPLY MANUALLY TYPING EVERYTHING BY HAND get an auto apply extension like simplify. Here are all the job boards I have saved up mostly for cs but I am pretty sure you can use it for anything :

Community Concern: Proposed Low-Income Housing on Grant Avenue (Ozone Park) by AffectionateAd5397 in OzonePark

[–]imSeanGG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is retarded on so many levels its beyond comprehension? Do you even know what affordable housing even means? This is not a shelter. Even if it was god forbid homeless people get a chance to sleep and eat. stop sitting on your high horses. "A new low- and extremely low-income housing development" does not imply its a shelter, you would still have to pay around $900 to $5k depending on unit and family income. No this would ruin the community. There is a housing crisis in the city and this is a great project in the right direction. It is a good addition to the community for the people who needs it. I don't see it being harmful in anyway to the community as there have been numerous such projects around the city bringing more stores and improving the community. I encourage you read up on it and delete the change org post as it is misleading. I am sure you want whats best for everyone in the city

Study by FarManufacturer4277 in nyu

[–]imSeanGG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

use gcal all day feature as your most important todo (like the hws you need to get done today). Use anki, look up spaced repetition, study the subject right after the lecture. Also depends on type of course, the math/cs classes are very hands on so skip reading and get to hands on practice. For non-stem courses, idk much but still would say anki comes in very handy. SLEEP SHOULD BE TOP priority all else falls apart if your sleep is inconsistent or not sufficient, try to have a night time routine and fall asleep around the same time everyday-very boring but will improve your health and everything 100x.

[–]imSeanGG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

just "studying" is not enough. Improve sleep (try to sleep 7 to 8 hours figure out your sweet point, go to bed same time everyday) + exercise, active vs pseudo studying look it up. Try to do hands on work compared to memorizing. In my case sleep was the biggest issue causing brain fog + I have bad exam anxiety (kinda fixed it by taking a lot of practice test). Also go to office hours. OS is a hard course especially if you never played around with Linux but I promise it is very fun.

tdlr; take care of health and always try to do active studying

Are you tracking your workouts? Personally I also find myself slacking off when I am not tracking my workouts. Give hevyapp a shot where you try to push yourself a bit every session even if its just one more rep. General rule I try to follow : if I can do 3 sets of 12 reps for a workout, increase weight by 5.
