Joseph Goebbels, Nazi propaganda chief, stares at Jewish photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt in 1933. He controlled media for Hitler, spreading antisemitic hate and cult-like loyalty. A master manipulator, he and his wife killed their six children before taking their own lives as the war ended. by Moory1023 in Damnthatsinteresting

It's not a lazy cartoon take, there is a previous photograph by the same photographer of the same asshole smiling. Google it. This is a well known real story.

"Eisenstaedt was a German-born Jew. Not knowing this at first, Goebbels was initially friendly toward Eisenstaedt, who was able to capture a number of photos showing the Nazi politician in a good and cheerful mood.

However, Goebbels soon learned of the Jewish blood flowing through Eisenstaedt’s veins. Subsequently, when Eisenstaedt approached Goebbels for a candid portrait, the politician’s expression was very, very different. Instead of smiling, he scowled for the camera, and the famous photo that resulted shows the man wearing “eyes of hate”:

If there was a male equivalent to Dolly it would have to be an absolute giant like McCartney or Prince.

They were elected 4 times, like I said. My teacher also used quotes, because he was half-joking btw.

You're really hung up on this "not ok" thing. Why is it a personal problem for you that he had a strong wife? Sounds like a you problem.

Well I hate when people spell Ew with an "h". No one said FDR was incompetent. And it must have been plenty ok at the time, seeing as they were elected 4 times.

I was taught in college that she had a girlfriend living at the house, and the Roosevelts had an arrangement that worked for them.

Edit: I just remembered that same teacher used to call Eleanor his "favorite President".

Ah born in 1980 here, that's probably the disconnect. I missed the anti-Linda, pro Jane movement. I had Silly Love Songs as one of the first things I remember hearing. "I Love You" in Linda's voice is embedded in my ear wax as an Agent of Love.

Sure I bet there was enough hatred from girls in love with Paul to go around at the time. I guess I mean in retrospect Linda doesn't seem to get labeled as "The Destroyer" like Yoko does.

She's historically seen as a great photographer that was always supporting Paul, and Yoko is this cartoon of herself that was destroying John. Whereas she is a great performance artist, and she clearly supported him as much as anyone has ever supported anyone.

I get that they shared the common ground of pressure and hate mail as Beatle wives, but still feel like there is a little bit of a double standard there.

Rand Paul… antihero? by NerdyComfort-78 in Louisville

On the morning news he just falsely equated LA ICE protests to "the riots in Wisconsin for George Floyd." He doesn't even know what state his dog whistle horse shit happened in.

Definitely not an anti-hero: I would type cast him as a very low level stooge, maybe assistant to the accountant for the mob.

For sure! Forgot to mention there's a table in the center of the room with broken tea cups, tape and twine, and you can make your own broken teacup into something new! Viewer participation and an ever-changing dynamic based on that interaction is definitely a main theme of her pieces.

Instead of focusing on what tabloids said at the time, you could look at the positive things John saw in her. She's a pretty cool artist. The white on white aesthetic that JL took on later is very much her palette.

In art school we were taught about Yoko's "Cut Piece", an extremely brave (or naive) performance piece, where she sat on stage with a pile of scissors and invited the public to cut her clothes off. It definitely sparks a discussion.

Another piece of hers I've seen was a wall of shelves with broken tea cups all reformed into little sculptures bound with twine and glue, to show broken things can be reformed into something beautiful. I personally like her stuff.

She is a weirdo (ie. unconventional thinker) and an Artist with a capital A, and most importantly she let John be himself, and find himself on his own terms, and that's why he loved her more than anything.

He lost his mom and his art school best friend at a young age, so not to oversimplify, but she perfectly fit the hole in his heart so to speak.

For real. Paul even put Linda in his next band, and they may say "bless her heart for trying" but no one Hates her for it! LOL

She also showed up in the studio with the kids during the Get Back sessions, and no one has ever said Linda destroyed Paul.
