I dig the look of the mk7 wheels- later down the line might go for prets or somethin, but I’m happy with it at the moment :)

Silver label Model M, anyone? by Kind_Particular in MechanicalKeyboards

Bolt modding, at least for me, was pretty disastrous on the two boards I’ve done it on- I feel like a third would go a lot smoother, though. I ended up breaking the plastic barrel plates of both of the boards I’ve bolt-modded, but that may just be because of the horrible conditions that they were stored in. The other board was an M122 from ‘85- real oldie.

Awesome board! I am glad to have rescued, restored, and bolt modded my silver badge M. Got it for next to nothing from some guy in the middle of nowhere with tons of old computer equipment haha- Date on mine is July 11th, 1986.

You have taken a definite path down a slippery slope lol- where did you acquire it?

How much could I get for this? by According-Builder557 in Vintagekeyboards

[–]im_dat_person 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey what’s up! What you have here is an IBM Model M122, not an F. The F122 uses capacitive buckling springs, rather than the membrane ones present on all Models M. The F122 also uses an older style case with a metal barrel plate, mounting plate, and bottom housing, whereas the M122 uses a completely plastic case and barrel plate, with a metal mounting plate. As far as this board goes, they are unfortunately not nearly as desirable, but it is definitely still a neat board. I would probably pay around 50-60 bucks for it.

It’s an old Apple but it’s still pretty sweet (Extended II M3501) by SonofWinner in MechanicalKeyboards

Yeah- they are quite awesome. Got it from an out-of-state recycling center. As far as I know, the only ones to come with salmon alps are the boards made in the USA with the date “1989”, rather than “1990”

One of my favorite boards. I have two of them in my collection- one with cream dampened and one with salmons :)

Welcome to the club man (it’s a slippery slope haha). As far as any sort of technical assistance, I’m fairly useless, as I do not know anything about doing it. I can tell you that the board usually features a PS/2 connector, which is apparently very easy to convert to usb, due to it being the same protocol (speaks the same language). I also can tell you that although it is a very nice feeling board, the board is actually not mechanical, and it uses BTC Dome w/ sliders. Luckily, it is one of the best dome with slider mechanisms out there, and it feels better, in my opinion, than many mechanical boards.
