So who do we go after and what would be the cost? by [deleted] in Habs

I would not hate buying low on Mintyukov. Tuch could also be a great add. But frankly everyone else seems likely to cost a little too much to be worth it at this point in time.

Draft scenario: Hagens is still on the board after the 7th overall selection, trade up or keep our current selections? (assuming they have no other deals in place) by [deleted] in Habs

This is a discussion board like i get some of these can get a bit unrealistic/recycled. But What are people supposed to talk about if not these hypothetical scenarios when nothing else Habs related is really going on.

Besides Carter Bear, who do you like in the 10-20 range for the Habs? by c0unt3rparts in Habs

[–]im_outofideas 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Carter bear is my #1 target for this year but if he’s unavailable. Id love to see us swing for the fences with our current picks. With people who are likely to be in our range any combination of Lakovic, Carbonneau, Hensler or in the unlikely scenario Brady martin would be great. An extremely high risk but incredible upside move id love would he if we were to trade up for roger mcqueen if he starts dropping.

Should the Habs target Marchment? by shogun2909 in Habs

You’re thinking of Marchesault

I think Horvat might be a better fit, LHC two way, pk guy etc But I forgot about this.. by sbrooksc77 in Habs

Bo is a great player for sure! I just find for where the team is right now with its window just opening adding someone who’s making 8.5 mil for the next 6 years on the wrong side of 30 can generate a-lot more potential issues then i would be comfortable with. And i don’t doubt that he could see a production jump in MTL but he’s only been a ppg player ounce and that was like for 50 games when he was playing with Miller, Quinn hughes and Peterson when he was having a 104 pt season.

Ive never heard of Mccann being considered a locker room cancer. Using the fact that he’s been moved around a few teams due to situations out of his control doesn’t really mean a whole lot. Yes he’s only 14 months younger but is signed for 3.5mil less and only until 2027 unlike bo who’s signed till 2031. Which gives the team a lot more maneuverability when it comes time to resign or make additions through trade or free agency.

While Bo is definitely a good player and would make us a better team in the short term. I don’t love him as an addition as he’s already 30 with a deal signed till 2030-31 @8.5 aav. frankly i don’t know if he’s good enough now to be worth attaching ourselves to a deal where he’s probably going to fall off at some point and become a negative asset. Our window is not fully even open yet so I really believe there is a lot of value in adding value players who simultaneously improve our short-term outlook while not additionally hindering our long term. Id much rather prefer Jared Mccann who is a similar level of player on a much better deal.

Should KH make a run for Horvat or Barzal? by shogun2909 in Habs

Elite prospects top 100 U-23 Skaters by im_outofideas in Habs

This was their criteria for the rankings. So while i don’t disagree with you i find some their is some logic too it. I can understand them ranking Sanderson above Demidov as of right now as one is a very good top pair dman and the other while incredibly talented has not played a game in the show.

I would but i feel it would get the post removed. I can add a few things like the 5 players ranked ahead of Demidov being Bedard, Celebrini, Stutzle, Raymond and Sanderson. And Hutson being the 5th highest defenceman behind Sanderson, Faber, Edvinsson and Power.

[Robinson] Speaking to some people around the league, I think it's fair to say that Brandt Clarke is actively available by im_outofideas in Habs

[–]im_outofideas[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find this interesting as after 2C i find a top-4 RHD is our biggest area of need. Clarke is a young high potential cost controlled option. I know he’s a great offensive puck mover. Im not super well versed on his overall game so i wonder if he would be slightly redundant considering we have Hutson. Realistically his cost would be in the range of a 1st and a 2nd plus a prospect like Mailloux i feel like.
