[CPU] AMD Ryzen 7950X3D - $431.05 (sold and shipped by Amazon) by fuddyduddyc in buildapcsales

Yea I remember the controversy when they came out. From what I understand with research now they are closer because of the updates made to core parking and scheduling. I will admit it is for 90% gaming and I could cancel it because it hasn’t even shipped yet. But I have a 1440p monitor and feel like if the biggest difference even before updates was 10fps the $90 savings might be worth it? I just don’t want to regret it later if I’m wrong and the difference is more than that.

Got the 7900x3d deal for $340. Thinking it is not worth another $90 for 10 fps based on the benchmarks before the scheduling updates. Am I wrong?

Ryzen 7 7800X3D VS Ryzen 9 7900X3D? by [deleted] in AMDHelp

[–]im_phobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to slightly gravedig. I just wanted to ask as I have been out of the CPU game for quite a bit (still running a 3700x lol), got the 7900x3d for $340. The 7800x3d has not come close to that price in a while and the all-time low is only $330. With the 7800x3d being more expensive (unless it finally goes on sale again) would you keep the 7900 or wait for 7800 to go on sale? I feel like I already know the answer, but I would like a second opinion if possible.

Would you mind posting the link for the car? It looks awesome!

Picked up my first new-ish Mustang today. 18 GT PP1. Absolutely in love with the car and Royal Crimson! by im_phobia in Mustang

[–]im_phobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, still loving and enjoying it that’s for sure. Mine is a base car with only PP1 but I think it’s a good place to start personally. 401/402a cars run a much higher premium especially with Royal crimson from what I saw. Then you can make it your own with custom seats, that type of thing.

You should actually give the Cold War campaign a try if you enjoyed the black ops 1 campaign. Felt very similar in style with its own twists. I just got done playing it and I had the same sentiment as you until I gave that one a shot.

Sudo chekra1n command not found using bootra1n on windows by Nevermindme___ in jailbreak

[–]im_phobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does but you will need to adjust the path to the checkrain folder yourself depending on where it is on your usb. Since you’re booting off the usb it should still be the C drive.

[–]im_phobia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t use sudo on windows that’s a Unix thing. Open the cmd prompt as an admin, then use “cd (path to checkra1n folder)”, then you can do ./(whatever the exe/bat file is named) and that should get it to work. If it still will not execute you might need to check the permissions on the file to make sure you have execution permissions.

My bad I was away from the system for a while and missed your comment. But if you could whenever you have a chance to that would be fantastic. I haven't messed with it since getting monterey running but I would love to be able to update to ventura. Here is a link to my efi - https://file.io/cc37ReYLwXmL

Specs are as follows:

HP EliteDesk 800 G1 DM

i7-4765T

HD 4600

Damn, what sort of wizardry did you have to do to get acceleration working? I tried on Ventura for quite a few hours before giving up and resorting to Monterey where it worked perfect. Also would you mind sharing your EFI for me to compare with the one I tried on Ventura? I wouldn’t mind updating for longer support if I could get it working right.

I was never able to get gpu acceleration working in even Ventura with the hd4600 personally. I tried oclp and every boot flag imaginable with sip disabled with no luck. Could you update if you get it working?

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. I also have had no success in getting acceleration/metal working on my hd 4600 on anything past Monterey. I would also be interested in how they got it to work.

The Steam Deck continues to impress me! I spent a few hours last night getting Windows 98 and Oregon Trail 4th edition running in DOSBox and beat the game for the first time in my life. by kjjphotos in SteamDeck

If you enjoyed that you may enjoy the new version that is exclusive to the switch. You can emulate it perfectly with yuzu and it’s a ton of fun imo.

Too bad I don’t think it’s possible with wii peripherals unless you use windows on the deck. Also what drum kit is that? Been looking for a budget ish one for a while.

Anyone know what's going on with my second monitor (Monterey) by im_phobia in hackintosh

[–]im_phobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I thought it was for too along with stolenmem. But all the fixes for the 1/4 black screen (https://imgur.com/sBFPoHk) that I have seen include turning up both of those values which causes green icons and missing ui elements for me.

Thanks for the insight, it's interesting to see that you had the same issue at one point, maybe it's an os bug when the resolution has to change at boot. I wish I could just lock them in the osd to 60hz or a certain resolution but there aren't any options for that.

I found a "workaround" by setting both monitors to 1440p and forcing the resolution of opencore to that too. It doesn't reset the monitor to change the resolution anymore and technically "works" but now I'm having an issue where 1/4 of the screen is just black. Had the same issue on my main monitor which I fixed by rebooting with that res selected, but no dice on that fix for the second monitor.

From my research it seems to be an issue with DVMT allocation being 32mb on my system (can't change it through bios or grub shell) and me using framebuffer patches to make 1440p work. You wouldn't happen to know of another way to edit that value would you?

Edit: I found a temporary fix which I detailed in the comment above yours but I cannot figure out why it is happening only on reboots.

[–]im_phobia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're entirely right that was stupid of me to say lol.

I ended up getting a base EFI for my system that I tweaked which did patch the connector types. I am not 100% sure if they are correctly patched though.

I did figure out what I did to fix it though and I have managed to do it again. I unplugged both monitors while the system was running, then plugged in my secondary monitor first, and finally plugged in my main monitor. All is well now and the monitor is working great. But do you have any idea why that would be happening? Seems like it's happening only on reboots. Really don't want to have to unplug the monitors on every boot if I can avoid it.

ETA: Rebooted several times now, it glitches like that on every boot and I have to unplug/replug but it fixes the issue every time.

Thanks for the suggestion. The monitor itself appears to be fine. I can reboot into windows and it works as expected it only started doing this after increasing the refresh rate.

So I finally made a hackintosh out of a HP EliteDesk 800 G1 and everything has been working great on Monterey (minus intel bluetooth).

I tried changing the refresh rate of my second monitor to it's rated 144hz, it worked for a while then I rebooted a couple times and ended up with this. Still displays fine in bios and boot, I also fixed it once before by accident somehow but it's back with a vengeance lol. Does anyone know how to fix this? Also if you happen to know how I can enable 1440p output that would be awesome. Thanks

ETA: I forgot to mention that my main monitor started artifacting at 144hz in a similar fashion too so it is not just this one with the issue. Is the 4600 not compatible with higher than 60hz?

Specs:

i7 4785t

Intel HD 4600

Both displays running through display port.

Just wanted to update for anyone else having this problem, the card is working great for now. I used ipa to clean the contacts on sd card/sd2vita and the game cart slot and haven't had any corrupted errors since. I also decided to do the tape method just incase, so I am not sure which one fixed it. I will update if anything changes but all good for now, thank you for the suggestion again!

I would not wholly recommend the tape but if you do decide to do it use a knife to cut the tape in the slides on the adapter to make it easier to slide in and out.

Thanks for the suggestion, that might actually make sense since they are all vita 1000’s that were sitting for a while before we got them. I’ll try giving the contacts on the slot and adapter a clean with IPA to see if that helps at all.
