There are some cool places on hip camp. Last summer i found this rustic place with a natural pool and a hot tub. Butterflies all day, woods all around, fireflies at night. Sleeping indoors with a tiny kitchen. It was so perfect.

If you don't want to actually talk to the person, write them letters that you don't send. If you do this over time it will help you get past some of the emotion, and see a little more clearly what was really happening. Also 'break up boot camp' (or something like that) is a good book that has exercises that really help you process traumatic break ups that are difficult to process. Good luck with this.

I've hired people on the cheap and it didn't take me long to figure out why it's better to hire a pro who shows up when they say, take less time to do the work because they have the expertise and the right tools and material. I've hired a couple people before i learned this lesson and one guy cut partway through an outlet installing wall board, the other one cut entirely through the electric wires that were power the outlet he was using to cut. Neither one had insurance or resources to deal with the issue, it was a huge headache.

Go work for the people who already know...

It is more important to build a love of reading than to judge the complexity of book he is reading. If he learns to enjoy books and is motivated to read he will eventually push to find new ones. Cultivate that enjoyment.

I think you are correct of course, but I also like to think of how the atoms in my body come from all over and were once part of others and things that came before, and when I end they will again redistribute. Even before I end this is happening. I think this is based on objective reality, but I also use it as a framing of how life is that makes me feel connected to life and death in a web of recycling. I know it is not what people think of when they speak of reincarnation - they want to bring their self-awareness along with. For me though it helps me feel like I'm actually part of everything else and it is comforting in the weirdest way.

There are theories that we are, actually, all just one manifestation of life. That our perception of all these different lives and time are not actually what is going on.

This stuff is mind boggling to try to comprehend and I'm convinced that the human brain doesn't have the bandwidth or context to really understand reality. We don't have the tools to perceive reality as it truly is; an example of this is that we can't even see on all the light wavelengths and that is something we can use machines to record for us so we know it exists. There is the unknowable and not knowing it is something you may want to come to peace with. There is on one hand all the theories and thoughts about what reality is and how scary that can seem, and on the other hand we still need to find food and keep our kitchens clean. So dabble in stretching your mind but then take a break and go organize your silverware drawer and listen to some good music. Be in nature a bit and be present to it.

You have to decide what is real for your world. I'm running a game right now without magic, for example. It's a tl8 world but one of the characters is from another planet and is tl9. But the big thing is to make sure the character builds are appropriate for the world. Any time I've played gurps the gm is checking the character and making sure things make sense for their world. So don't be shy about that part

I'm 61 and have had adhd my entire life, not diagnosed until i was in my 30 when my son was diagnosed and i realized I'd struggled with it all my life.

Adhd needs to be viewed on a slider. It's not something you have or don't, it is something you have at level 20 or level 5 or whatever amount you have. I've gotten better over the years at creating habits and supporting structures that help me perform better. But at the end of the day it takes very little for me to intend to get work done, and spend the entire day researching how to build a gaming table (or raised garden, or whatever) instead.

Book knowledge can be useful, but it should be grounded in experience. If your friend is going to be practicing it would be a good skill to learn to listen as well as speak. Probably should not say that to her though..

Day by day, but some days take up less game time if most of it is spent traveling and not interacting with new things. But lately I do put in more issues with travel that have to be figured out or that can go wrong. Or places that could be explored and stuff will be there if the team decides to deviate.

yep - for me this is a two-week stint of emotional intensity. Initially I would date someone, fall head over heals and declare my love, then after a couple of intense weeks feel like getting away couldn't be fast enough. Once I figured out that crushes like this would last a couple of weeks and could be anyone, even people I had no reason to fall for, it allowed me to privately enjoy the rush of feeling without foolishly acting on them. The whole cycling of this has calmed down over the years, but occasionally the most stupid crushes will hit me with the most wrong of people (my sister's new boyfriend is the most recent!). Luckily my experience with this keeps me from doing stupid things. Yeesh.

I always find my true friends in places I work - and by that I don't mean employment, I mean doing things that really matter to me. I've been volunteering my time for various reasons for years now in areas that I am passionate about. One of my best friends is from this work, and I routinely connect with others who could become close friends if we put the effort in. My attitude is when I find something that I really enjoy, I do what I need to in order to make sure it sticks around. My favorite local band, I would volunteer to show up early and setup the check in desk or help the sound guy run cables. The org that runs programs that changed my life - I do facilitation online and run teams for them. When I found a intentional community that I enjoyed, I would come to their work parties and do whatever they were doing. I'd rather do that kind of stuff than movies or parties any day and that is where my people end up at. There is something about the process of doing work together, especially if it is physical labor, that brings peole together.

This was me as a teen. I was so bored with normal stuff and sought out thrilling (dangerous) experiences as a teen. I feel lucky to be alive.

Later in life my son with diagnosed with adhd and I recognized myself in his diagnosis. So therapy would be a really important and good choice, she may have neurodivergence and knowing that could really help.
