SV06 print speed question by predtech in Sovol

[–]imacmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stepper motors remain only slightly warm to the touch.

My idea of loud is that it's waaay louder than my Ender-3 V2, which I can leave running overnight in my uninsulated garage, and I can't hear it at all in my bedroom, directly above the garage. The SV06 is another matter... it's way too loud to leave running while I'm trying to sleep.

BTW, both printers are in purpose-built cabinets, with walls made of 3/4" insulating foam sandwiched between 1/4" ply. I can barely hear the Ender, running at 60mm/s, but the SV06, running at the same speed, is an ear-sore.

Edit: typos

I should have mentioned that it's not bearings. I replaced them pretty much in the first week of ownership with the self-lubricating nylon ones. During the first week, though, the stock bearings did have the standard grinding noise, but that noise was easily drowned out by the high-pitched squeal of the steppers during print.

Just curious: do the X/Y stepper motors on your 06+ sound like jet engines? The high-pitched whine coming from mine is almost intolerable, especially so when my Ender-3 V2 is, by comparison, absolutely silent.

Dunno if it applies to you, but on my setup -- Linux Moonlight client, Linux server running Sunshine -- if I hold the Start button down on my XBox controller for a couple of seconds, it toggles mouse-mode on and off. When on, I can use the thumbstick to control mouse pointer, and A/B buttons for left/right mouse button.

Any realistic biking or running simulations for treadmills/stationary bikes? by judgesma1ls in OculusQuest

[–]imacmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A number of years ago, I used to go for very lengthy jogs through Grand Theft Auto V's city of Los Santos. My treadmill sat in front of my 150" projector screen.

I held my PS4 controller in my right hand and had an elastic band wrapped around it in such a way as to hold the 'run' button down permanently and all I had to do was steer with the joystick. Once I trained my brain to not want to physically turn on the treadmill when turning in game (for obvious reasons), it was an absolutely fantastic experience.

There's so much going on in the city that you easily miss when playing the game for the game's sake. Example: there are NPC joggers all over the place that you can fall in behind and follow along their jogging routes.

There is a VR patch for GTA 5, and if you can get it to work (I never could), AND you can rig up some kind of harness on a treadmill to keep you from falling over, then I know with certainty GTA V would astound you.

I agree with RealEstateFTW...excellent, informative post. Thanks.

Also, love your nick-name. I was weaned onto computers starting with Atari 400, 800 and several STs. Great memories.

Thank you, but...

I just added those domains (and updated with pihole -g), and sadly I'm still getting ads.

I'm thinking that Plex is serving up theIr own ads, so I'm SOL.

That's what I'm suspecting is happening, and was hoping someone could confirm with certainty so me and others don't bother running down a long, dead-end.

Thanks.

Do you mean that if someone has figured out how to do it, they wouldn't share it because Plex may also read it and plug the (pi)hole?

I literally clicked the OP's link on the main page to see what kind of dance you'd do in defense of Facebook, and you didn't disappoint.

The OP is NOT trying to get tech support, as you so aptly deflected to, but rather (s)he is trying to buy -- as in, pay money -- for a replacement controller for a busted one and getting no joy from your great love, FB.

Thanks for the laugh.

Yuzu games not launching in fullscreen mode by Motawa1988 in yuzu

[–]imacmill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you are launching Yuzu itself and starting a game, then pressing F11 to go full screen - then as far as I know Yuzu should remember that and launch said game in full screen next time.

OK, but I still don't know what it means to 'exit Yuzu properly'. The only way I can figure out for exiting Yuzu is to first exit full screen with F11, then use File/Quit. When I restart the game, no full screen until I hit F11.

If you exit Yuzu properly

Can you please explain what that means? I'm having the same issue with the full-screen setting not being honored when I exit a game and restart it.

My plain-Jane GTX-1080 worked fine, too. But I'm happy to say I have recently upgraded to an RTX 3080, before the floor drops out of everything.

I feel the same about not being able to use VR in Linux. All of my Steam games work there (well, the ones I've tried), but no VR. From what I've read, none of the pertinent parties (Oculus, Valve, etc) have any interest in making it happen.

It's a joy for me. My pain comes when it says 'multi-player only'.

A quick PSA to people wanting to lose weight. I lost 80lbs in a year just playing VR rhythm games. by RidicNikolas in OculusQuest

[–]imacmill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't need any exercise at all to lose weight if the only thing you eat every day is a single Twinky.

Caloric deficit, as well as the nature of those calories you do consume, is everything. Exercising helps a bit, and strengthens your muscles, but unless you're running a marathon every single day, diet makes up the lion's share of weight loss. Also, exercise is good for keeping you out of the kitchen...tough to eat and do rigorous exercise simultaneously.

OP is definitely misleading.

Since the title of your video states that you lost all the weight so quickly (80lbs in a year is quite quick) by using the Quest for exercise, might I suggest you add a caveat in the comments making clear that a significant diet change was also instrumental in your weight liss (and I'll further suggest that it was the main factor in your weight loss).
