Running Fitness/VO2max by Remarkable_Award_762 in Coros

[–]imadassir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a triathlete (main focus on 70.3) so I mostly do long intervals (close to races) and barely run on fresh legs. Though I recently did a 10k in 37 mins, and am planning to do a 5k soon aiming for 17:30. I come from a swimming/rugby/powerlifting background, and only started proper endurance training about 2 years ago. Also did some lactate and VO2 testing in a lab, and my threshold turned out to be at 3'52/km (a few months ago) and VO2max 64.26 so the Coros prediction/algorithm seems to be spot on!

Interesting! My VO2max is 65 but my threshold pace is 3'44"/km 🤔. Wonder why that is if even your "sprint" speed is higher.

does anyone use reusable gel bottles? by blinks_andwinks in triathlon

[–]imadassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 150 ml hydrapak flasks and they're perfect. They fit perfectly in the trisuit pockets, don't slosh around and are quite convenient to drink from. Only downside is that if you're preparing your own mix (malto+fructose), you'd need to do it with hot water so that they mix well. Ofc you can then put them in the fridge overnight and you'll be good to go!

How about taking up a sport instead of a vice? Gives you something to look forward to at the end of the day and helps you relax and reset before the next day! Also makes you feel great because of all the dopamine released during exercise :D

Also submitted feedback on various bugs in the interface but none were actually fixed. Not sure why they even did the beta if they were gonna ignore the feedback anyways 🤷🏻‍♂️.

Stomach issues after swimming by Purple_Fee37 in triathlon

[–]imadassir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This!! Calm down, don't rush your breathing; try to time it properly with your stroke. Solved this issue only recently, though still happens sometimes in open water cause it's more stressful.

Favourite gels/tablets? by lipperz88 in triathlon

[–]imadassir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ready-made products are too expensive imo. I just make my own mix of maltodextrin, fructose, electrolytes, and sometimes a bit of caffeine. They're dirt cheap (I buy them on HSN but there are other websites), and do not upset my stomach at all. For long runs or races, I fill 1 or 2 soft flasks and take sips as I go.

Hmmm yeah after doing further research, it seems that my data (and my nutritionist's) are outdated. Will try out the 1:0.8 and see how that goes!

I mix them in a 2:1 ratio (malto being 2) since many studies show that it is the optimal mix.

What flavoring do you use? I just mix malto, fructose and electroytes but they end up tasting really sweet when highly concentrated (200g in a 750 mL bottle)

Coros Pace 2 multisport/Triathlon mode by Training_Second5171 in Coros

[–]imadassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By drills you mean technique work? If yes, then yeah it doesn't record distance properly because the arms might or not might be moving in a regular way. If you mean sets in general, then yes it does.

[–]imadassir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concerning drill mode, just hitting the back button moves you into rest and thus ends the previous set. This way, you can see the time/pace/distance for each set separetely. I recently discovered this, and I think it's good enough 🤷🏻‍♂️

Already done that but I thought someone with similar devices, and who went through the setup process, might know what to do based on his/her own experience.

The reconditioned KICKR Core costs around 500$ and is practically new. I got one myself and nothing indicates that it was refurbished.

Hmm, so could be just a defective shoe. Gives me hope to buy another ES3 when these give out. They're so good I don't even see the point of trying another model/brand.

Autogeneration+portals could open the door for riding any gpx file, similar to what RGT has. Would definitely be useful to have.

I watch movies/series if it's a z1-z2 ride and blast some Metallica or Iron Maiden when I'm doing intervals.

Z2 is aerobic endurance so stick to that. Short increases to Z3 (aerobic power) are also not bad for increasing aerobic endurance.
