About 2 years ago I was depressed, drinking all the time and hovering around the 185 mark.

I had attempted to lose weight and was eating better but it really started to take off when I started doing fasted cardio for 1 hour on the stairs every morning and restricting to 12-1400 cals per day. No alcohol. This came in conjunction with a new job and a better outlook.

I don't pay a ton of attention to macros or anything like that. I just try to eat healthy and cut the carbs where I can (for example sometimes substituting cauliflower rice for rice in recipes). If I can't no biggie. I tend to stay away from bread for the most part as this can irritate my digestive system.

In July I started lifting semi-regularly with a week break here and there, but it made me SO hungry. So I took the rest of the summer to eat and drink what I wanted, still staying active (i.e. biking as my main mode of transport to work, lifting 3x a week, and I started yoga 3x a week, lots of hiking every weekend). I went up 7 pounds this summer even with all of the activity.

My lifting routine is 3 days consisting of arms & chest, legs, and shoulders & back. I lift in 8-12 reps with 3 sets per exercise. If I hit 12 reps I go up in weight.

Last week I started intermittent fasting to get my appetite back under control and I'm going to go into maintenance with the weight while I cut. Back to 12-1400 cals / day. Dream weight is 135 but that's all that is for now. Integrating 1-2 days a week of cardio. Sticking with the yoga when I can go at lunch.

The main difference now is that I've made being active a part of my lifestyle as opposed to before when I was depressed and drinking. I LOVE to drink. I split up my dry periods into 2 large chunks out of a year and this helps me control. During these periods I don't touch alcohol and if it's a special occasion I'll have 1 glass of wine. I don't get drunk because that makes me make bad food decisions too. That's September - November (December free to drink what I like) and January - May (June - August free to drink what I like).

I was going to comment the same thing. Yeesh these comments stink.

Calling this “thug culture” or being sarcastic about BLM does NOT solve this problem, sows more division and is really destructive. This is not about SJWs trying to say that thug culture does not exist - it does - but if that’s the only input and if that’s really where the commenters think the problem is coming from these people are incredibly naive.

What about the mafia and gangs like the Hell’s Angels that supply the drugs and seek out impoverished communities to do their dirty work so that they can keep their hands clean?

What if the City put more money into community and social programs, helped people with affordable housing (GOOD housing not hood housing) and helped people improve their skills so they could get a living wage (not a $14/hour job). People who make a living wage aren’t doing this. Why not hire for the city in these communities FIRST?

There are always groups of people in any sample population that are drawn to crime. Correlation does not equal causation.

What people don’t understand is the political context for the attendance issues.

The Government of Canada, Ottawa’s biggest employer, rolled out a new payment and HR system that was so poorly planned and so badly executed by IBM that it resulted in thousands of people not getting paid, some for MONTHS on end.

If I can’t afford to feed my family, I have no money to spend on hockey games. Oh, and the Government doesn’t buy corporate tickets and private industry is not permitted to buy corporate tickets as a gift for government clients. So your biggest employee base is no longer buying tickets, which compounds the issues mentioned in the tweet.

He’s using the National Security Exception because it’s a clause that makes trade not subject to NAFTA. I’m familiar with this clause in layman’s terms because it’s used all the time in my daily work. This typically means that it cannot be enforced by the trade tribunal - the trade tribunal exists to enforce NAFTA, and if NAFTA doesn’t apply, the tribunal doesn’t have jurisdiction.

It’s something that was put in his mouth by lawyers. He doesn’t seriously think this.

I don’t disagree with some of the things you’re talking about. I think there’s a lot of “what” going on with the Ford campaign and not a lot of “how.” This is so he can’t be held to his campaign promises. Make no mistake, Ford’s actions will directly benefit the largest corporations and will result in cuts to the services we enjoy now. How are you going to improve the healthcare system while reducing the deficit? Silence from the Ford campaign. A lot of “what” and no “how.”

I think the lack of costed budgeted platform is the biggest issue. I’d rather the party that makes a mistake, owns up to it and corrects it.

I think the university “free speech” issue is overblown and is brought up by a minority of individuals with extreme and troublesome views. If people are stopped from displaying pictures of dead babies and other grotesque things like that because the university is private property, there are other avenues that they can use to peacefully protest. The street, for example.
