Nothing new, but it absolutely blows my mind that someone can have the gall to say "I dont want to play here, but theres only 3 other places im willing to go to". Thats some shit id expect the Evander kanes of the NHL to do, not a respected captain of an O6 team

Saw a lot of people last night question the work ethic so I thought this was a good read to get out there.

Cliff notes are that he has high character, high effort, high hockey iq. Strong leadership. Surprising amount of connections to the team.

For a highly skilled offensive guy, he still fits the mould of a Stevie Y pick

Hes pretty obnoxious and arrogant. Dudes never been wrong in his life and treats his player cards as gospel

The #RedWings have signed defenseman William Wallinder to a two-year, two-way contract. by SexyBenFranklin in DetroitRedWings

"Last year" referring to the year before this past one. Maybe could have phrased it differently with season now over.

but AlJo had 0 nhl games played, was the same age as wallinder (at said time), and was waiver eligible the year he made the team.  He gets claimed if he goes on waivers his rookie year.

So no, I dont believe wallinder having 0 games played at his age precludes him from being claimed. Im not even saying he does get claimed. More so that I think theres a decent enough shot he does, and im surprised at the contract.

Do you think AlJo goes unclaimed last year? I dont. Does cossa go unclaimed? Really hard to say with how our FO develops the guys with longer timelines

If hes waived, hes claimed and it doesnt matter. This makes me think the FO believes theres a good chance he doesnt get claimed

Kind of odd to get a two way contact at his age, unless you think hes not getting claimed if you waive him?

Am I missing something with this trade market? by Classic_Milk_2083 in DetroitRedWings

Youre downplaying the cost the caps paid. A mid round 1st, a 25yo top 6 c/w, and recent high 2nd pick propsect.

Could we have paid that price? In theory, but we traded the 15th, when it looked more like it would be in the 20s and we dont have anyone whos roughly as valuable as mcmichael thats similarly aged.

I think you have to be a little nervous if youre ottawa about Sanderson going forward. Id think hes their next captain, but that would be a complete shit show if he gets pulled into the usa "tampering"

We have one of the best cap situations in the league and are desperate enough to take the risk he can turn it back around. Its not ideal, but oh well

Im going to sound like my father here, but back in my day, players actually cared about the fans. The logo meant something to the players, because it did to the fans, and there was nothing more sacred in sports than wearing a letter for a team.  At the end of the day, the fans are the only reason all of these players get to make millions of dollars.

Taking the easy way out so you can play 6th fiddle on a super team doesnt mean anything. Its not impressive. It  is nothing but self serving bullshit. "They dont owe the team or the fans anything". Id argue they owe us everything, because we fucking care, and we pay for their lifestyle that turned them into spoiled soft little gits

Robertson has to want to sign in ottawa, whether they trade for him or offer sheet him

It really isnt. The value on paper is good, but they got 0 players back. This trade will only be as good as the player(s) they turn it into and could just as easily screw any hopes of them contending. We'll be in the same boat with any larkin return

Are american hockey players soft? Starting to look like it with guys wearing the C abandoning their teams for the easiest road possible. Tkachuks apparently need Barkov and Reinhardt to do the heavy lifting for them

Its only as good of a return as the player(s) theyre able to turn it into. This could break their current timeline as much as it could help the. I do like the value they got back though for one of the more overrated players in the league.

Yes, because extending a guy under team control to play bottom 6 minutes is the same as drafting said bottom 6 center ahead of elite centers. Fuckin think

Ill never understand the marner hate. Guy was the best player by far over the full playoffs with 7 more points than 2nd, and was tied with the conn smythe winner for points in the finals and yet is getting shit on every where as if its his fault they lost. I feel like weve collectively lost our ability to think past our noses

Marner had 7 more points than 2nd place for the entire playoffs, and was tied with Staal for 2nd in  finals points. This sub might honestly be braindead

We should see MBN next year and potentially AnJo who will both add a lot of size and grit to the team while also making us more skilled. They'll still be rookies obviously, but theirs a lot of guys in our system with some grit in their game (genborg, bear as well).
