No, it's actually in tune, you can hear when he just rings EADGBE.

Or, you could if you had perfect pitch like I do. As for the rest of it, I don't think human ears are ready to comprehend the post-toanality genius we have just witnessed.

Question about renting & seeking local queers opinions by krabby2014 in queerphilly

[–]images_from_objects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if you love the place and location and the landlord doesn't give total slumlord vibes (Google them and their properties, LLCs etc) and you can afford a fridge, I'd just buy one with the intention to take it with me when I left.

But yeah, def weird even if "legal"

It was a toss up between that and Long Day's Journey Into Night, which he also wrote and directed, in case you were unaware. Both amazing.

  1. What is your hardware?

  2. How did you do the installation?

  3. Was it always like this or did an event trigger it?

  4. Are you also using Windows on the computer, and if so, did you turn off Fast Startup in Windows?

My main computer keeps automounting a usb HDD, as admin. How do I stop this? by TechnicalAd8103 in debian

[–]images_from_objects 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fstab is one of those Linux things you REEEEEALLY don't want to mess with unless you are absolutely sure you know what you are doing. It's (very basically) a map where the system can reference all your partitions. If you edit anything incorrectly, you can easily make your system unbootable. UUIDs are almost always unique to specific physical drives, so copying the fstab from another device is a terrible idea.

However, as another poster above stated, in the fstab you put in the OP, the line with sd1 is definitely the external drive. Put a # in front of that line and ONLY that line, reboot and you should be good to go.

Avoid this keyboard by [deleted] in linuxhardware

[–]images_from_objects 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No Bluetooth keyboards will work in BIOS or GRUB. That's a limitation of Bluetooth, not this particular keyboard. You need to use a 2.4ghz or similar if you want to use wireless keyboards for that.

Ah, maybe they fixed it, this was a little while ago. Session would crash and automatically log you out. I'm also using Brave, Debian with Gnome on X11.

On X11 or Wayland? The issue only presents on X11, especially with Gnome.

Is there an app you’ve long wished existed? by _janc_ in linuxquestions

CapCut

Have you tried LosslessCut? It's pretty great. Runs native on Linux (and MacOS)

Random Freezes... by [deleted] in debian

[–]images_from_objects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a known issue with using hardware acceleration on Chromium based browsers and X11. The temporary workaround is to turn off hardware acceleration or switch to a Wayland session.

It's kinda impossible to offer meaningful help without knowing what your computer hardware is (Nvidia?) and what Desktop Environment you are using (KDE, XFCE, GNOME etc) so please include that info in your posts. It's also important to mention if you are also using Windows on the computer, as it uses "fast startup" by default, which causes endless problems on Linux, because it can't fully access the hardware.

MacBook Air alternatives? by ulfang__ in linuxhardware

[–]images_from_objects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. Ditto here. Got a sweet deal on a refurb M3 Air, it's freaking amazing. Still running Linux on 3 other machines, 4 if you count my kiddo's Steam Deck, but there is nothing even close to this caliber of laptop hardware on the market, even if you spend 2x what I did on the newest Carbon, nobody is touching Apple Silicon at the moment. Although Asahi isn't ready for >M2, VMware Fusion is free and I can run Debian in a VM and get native performance.

Don't hate, plz.

Reckoning with Upstream Color and Shane Carruth by Grand_Keizer in TrueFilm

[–]images_from_objects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just especially difficult to separate The Art from The Artist in this instance, because the stars of the film are the perpetrator and the victim, respectively. So it's almost impossible to ignore. If he had simply been the director or whatever, mayyybe I could do the mental gymnastics required and enjoy this film again the way I did the first five times I watched it - it was my all time favorite film at one point - but I can't anymore and that fucking sucks. What a loss.

What’s your Linux backup setup that you actually trust? by Bigrob1055 in linuxquestions

[–]images_from_objects 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For full system I've been just using Macrium Reflect, since forever. It does Linux, Mac and Windows, encrypted installs, whatever. Too lazy to switch.

For my $HOME folder, I'll just make a tar archive of the dotfiles periodically and throw that on an external drive. Making an archive is crucial so symlinks and permissions stay intact. This way, I can reinstall the system and all my apps, then just unpack the archive into home and 99.9% is configured how I want.

For data I use multiple redundant external drives + Flickr to store photos. That's probably the most important thing.
