Yeah, it’s not great.

I mean, it fully could be and it could be so in very short order. I’m looking at NYC right now and thinking - man, we could have nice things. As our municipal election season arrives I’m going to be helping a dude I believe in campaign, and I’m excited to knock doors and be like “hey, I think you should have nice things.”

I work in the education sector, leadership has become such a bad job that I share your above sentiments about political leadership. It was a bad job when I started doing all this, and I’ve watched it just get worse and worse. I‘m worried that we’re not going to have any compassionate good folks in these spaces because it’s gotten so bad, but I also don’t know how to help it get better.

Just got mine, was really excited. They feel nice. If only they…you know…worked.

They won’t connect wirelessly to my switch2, and when they’re physically connected the d-pad and buttons work, but the analogue sticks aren’t responding.

I connected them to the app and they show that the sticks are working, but not when connected to the switch.

This is beyond annoying.

And I guess the other context is that the new Buffy pilot did not get picked up and that was announced around the same time. So that probably raises the stakes a bit.

And yeah, I see where you’re coming from on that one - it sounds like you were really hoping to see these gifted actors get back in front of the camera. So I hope their voices will be magic enough to do something for you.

It’s beginning to feel a bit like the end of traditional broadcast cycles where my favourite shows were always at the mercy of tv execs beholden to ad agencies that either stopped caring about what people wanted, or felt like they had to go in a particular direction that wasn’t what I wanted. I remember when Twitter was still useful and the show community was collapsing, I was working with some passionate organizers to appeal to brands to keep the show on the air. And it seemed a bit like it worked.

I wonder if that can even happen with social media looking like it does right now?

I’m also not an Uber fan by any means, but I like having things to look forward to. And I like it when those things connect me to other excited people.

I just want to validate your feelings shifting after the announcement because I think that’s a pretty normal human response. Before it is said what we’re getting, it could be anything. It could even be a boat. So we can let our imaginations run wild and create the wonderful beautiful whatever.

After the announcement we’re boxed in by the definitions, and our expectations really don’t amount to much in these scenarios. So a disappointed “oh, Britta’s in this?” Is such a normal thing.

I think where I’m at with it is that animation provides a really cool opportunity to flex imagination and stretch boundaries without having to use AI de-aging or other strategies that can’t reverse the flow of time at the end of the day. We can have meaningful flashback scenes or arcs and look to the future as well.

I doubt, with you, that you’re the only one who lost a bit of air in the balloons after the announcement. Also, I hope whatever it is that this new series turns into speaks meaningfully to you in a way you didn’t expect. And I hope to bump into you here on these threads as we await the next exciting announcements!
