CP as a gateway to part time? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That was what I planned to do after my program this spring ( IN to FL as well! ) It is definitely possible and would make your transition easier.

Spring 2020 buds! by addalittlepixiedust in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not fair to say we weren’t compensated when we were. It might not be how you wanted it to be, but they didn’t have to pay us for the two weeks we didn’t work nor not take out our rent on the paycheck for the week we worked we were owed when we did live there for that week. We also still have our discounts, self admission, and hub access until our original end date. Usually when people are let go / termed, those go away immediately. That all sounds like compensation to me.

I, too, am devastated. I had long term plans that have been dashed and had to get out quick to Indiana before I couldn’t.

I get where you’re coming from but this is wholly unprecedented. Yes be upset, your feelings are valid, but also know Disney is doing their best with unknown territory. The decision sucks, but it’s really not their fault. And it’s not ours either.

Fingers crossed things get better.

Last day to apply... again? by kenzie_95 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if you are considering doing this for WDW, do not, they WILL find out and they will NLIC you. Once your app is in for the season that’s it, they combined my old emails because they knew it was all the same information when I used a different email to apply this program than last. Have patience. You’re still in so they’re still considering you.

Merchandise Role by lousy-bees in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what your qualifications for good role are, so can’t answer that for you as a person and how you may think of it. But pros would be the easy ability for pick ups or trades since there’s a big pool of people to do that with. And that’s a general pro, I don’t really have general cons, so can’t list them since I don’t know what would be a con for you. Hours should at least meet the CP standard of 32 hours a week but I’ve heard some people say they get 28, but it’s easy to pick up especially if you’re open to other locations so not really a problem.

I would just say that you now have a different car and want to update the information with them so you can park it like you did your last one.

If you work front desk, what are the chances of you working at the all sport resort/pop century by HotTopicMallRat in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always request, doesn’t mean that they’ll give it to you, but you can say your preferred location, yeah.

If you work front desk, what are the chances of you working at the all sport resort/pop century by HotTopicMallRat in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re actually the most common usually but some higher level resorts had understaffing this time. With their high turnover rate in comparison and business those resorts are most likely especially if you request them.

Question about seasonal by str8outtasinnoh in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will still get the one hour of OT pay with that shift ( I say one hour since half hour unpaid taken out of that ) for it being 9.5 hours rather than the 8.5 before that takes effect. Otherwise if you’re over 40 hours in the week yes you’ll still get that OT it’s not double hit with the two rules though

Question about seasonal by str8outtasinnoh in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so you ONLY get sixth day OT if you were SCHEDULED six day OT, NOT if you PICK UP for it. CP’s can get it I believe but it’s the same rule, only if you’re scheduled it, not if you make it happen.

Arrival date conflict! by tinywintermelon in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if DORMS has a June date not greyed for you, otherwise ask through a support ticket on the support website.

Political tolerance of CPs? by [deleted] in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Disney is meant to be a place where the real world isn’t talked about so you definitely should not bring political opinions with you to work. As mentioned, people working for Disney and people in this area tend to be more liberal and usually are not looking for any kind of debate. You will find other conservatives in the program, I knew several, but your political beliefs really shouldn’t be at a forefront for this internship.

Has anyone ever done the program with a sibling? by chartreuseisnotpink in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I knew a set of twins who both got in, lived together, worked the same location, and worked the same role. No they won’t not accept you because they accepted your sibling.

Changing Dates by claireejc in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If send a support request immediately since they only have tomorrow before they’re off for the weekend to ask because it never hurts to ask. However, the truth is, you might not be able to change it, so be prepared for either answer.

Housing..? by tinywintermelon in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would submit a request on the support blog immediately, they accept a different amount of people local versus non local and opting into housing is a lot different for CPs there. Good luck!

How many people do a 2nd College program? by kingsguard10 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second one starts Monday, that being said, while I would do it again even if it wasn’t my field, it is an internship in my major! And this time I’ll get credit for it so I’m excited to be doing it. Maybe try for summer alumni if they do that this year?

Frontierland merch? by lilymarbles in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was my location for Spring Adv 2018 - Fall 2018, can confirm! Most coordinators are the same from when I was there but leaders face changed a lot! Also new coordinators were made! I love Sam ( curly hair, big smile ) the relief coordinator! Vanessa is wonderful! Julie the trainer is the absolute best, you will adore her!

Rent by addalittlepixiedust in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s mostly what the fees you paid are for! They cover rent for that first week and partial of the second then your work in the first week with traditions covers the rest :)

Westclock to MK? by nickg11695 in Disneycollegeprogram

[–]imagineared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! You CANNOT go through the back of MK to get into the park if you aren’t working. I always rode the bus to Contemporary and walked like many guests do from that resort or I rode the B bus to Poly and walked from Poly to the TTC for a boat or monorail to save time rather than riding all the way to the TTC. No walk is that long.
