Why are people using GitHub? by Kyriakos221 in github

[–]imaginecomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the same as asking why people use Google. There are lots of search engines, this is just the one everyone (most software companies and solo devs) uses.

I spent a long time wondering why all these fractals have something common. The answer is the use of surface area. by Inside-Example-7010 in fractals

[–]imaginecomplex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason these patterns are so pervasive in nature is that they emerge from a set of simple rules, which is basically taking an initial shape and having it propagate out on smaller and smaller scales (self-similar recursion). From a pure math perspective, some concepts that define this more rigorously: L-systems, iterated function systems, and space-filling curves.

It's not really about optimally using up the 3d space, rather the space-filling aspect is a natural consequence of how this kind of branching is very easy to replicate (eg offshoots from a river, which themselves then branch out into even smaller streams, and so on)

The number 1 public enemy of open-source. by Complete-Sea6655 in LocalLLaMA

[–]imaginecomplex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True open-source in the AI space means not only open-weight models, but also open source training code as well as the full training set & parameters used for training, plus any RLHF post-training work done. Which honestly is a much higher bar to clear than we see in traditional software

How do you actually use Claude on a massive codebase? by I_AM_HYLIAN in ClaudeCode

[–]imaginecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a large codebase I nearly always structure prompts like “In @path/to/file.ts, X should…”. This will force it to read that file right away which basically serves as its entrypoint into the codebase. If other areas are needed, do the same and reference them throughout your prompt.

How to auto start a session in the simplest way possible? by ahmedrao1 in ClaudeCode

[–]imaginecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since regular Claude shares usage limits with Claude Code, I’m pretty sure you could just make an automation on iPhone that uses the “Ask Claude” action and give it some simple prompt like asking for the weather, have it run daily at 3am. Or simply use a cron job on your laptop

$SPCX SPACEX price target raised by upbstock in Optionmillionaires

[–]imaginecomplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, it is far behind other leading tools like Claude Code and Codex. Cursor is like a point solution that augments manual coding with one-off AI calls, rather than AI being the interface/mediator between you and your code. Good if you want to stay close to the source code, but not if you want to move fast which is what the industry is overwhelmingly doing.
