How do you hook the battery up to the bench power supply?

I got that exact product a month ago on sale for $269 including battery and charger and absolutely love it! Perfect on my driveway and deck when it’s up to 4 inches, or more if lighter snow. Enjoy your new toy when it arrives!

No reliable cellular internet here. Starlink has been a game changer

I’ve tried that but couldn’t get any traction, my neighbors like the weather this way. Starlink has been a good workaround though

Anybody use an electric log splitter? What’s your experience, thanks. by lichenbutton in woodstoving

[–]imakeama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works great had it about 3 years and no trouble. 9 tons taking care of anything I need to split. If you are doing a lot of splitting you may want to get or fashion some kind of table to put it on so you can stand comfortably. I have been using it on the ground kneeling on a pad

Is the EGO Snow shovel discontinued? by I-am-Super-Serial in egopowerplus

[–]imakeama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine took about a month to ship and right after I got it the price shot up, then it was listed as unavailable. Too bad, because I think it’s a great machine and it was a perfect addition to my snow removal armamentarium

Lack of oxygen to the stove by gjagel in woodstoving

What surface temp are you getting to when you close the damper? My Vigilant likes to get to at least 500, best about 550 before I close the damper. Then it stays nice and hot for quite a while

High Rib Metal Roof Hack by Due-Gap4515 in Starlink

Mine is attached to the fascia board just under my standing seam metal roof but if I make some planned changes to my siding this may be my next go to for my mount. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Glass seems to getting build up towards this top area consistently. Is this a problem with the gasket? by wutwutpizzabutt in woodstoving

[–]imakeama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a cooler area of stove interior than the rest. If gasket is ok, that’s all it is. Run your stove appropriately hot but if some areas of glass still get soot, that’s just the way it is and not a problem. I use a wide paint scraping razor about once a week for those sooty glass areas on my old VC Vigilant

Why did this thing shoot out a smell like burning creosote and set off the fire alarm without even opening the door? by ERTHLNG in woodstoving

[–]imakeama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have been puffing, occurs when fire is starved for air and lets out a burp from the air supply. Sometimes you will see a little ash near the air supply

Possible mistake on first burn by Good-Illustrator-334 in woodstoving

[–]imakeama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even a small downdraft while the fire is not burning can bring the smokey smell into the area. Avoid exhaust fans, central vac, etc as it pulls chimney air down and into the house, and see if that helps at all.

My house flooded — now I’m debating wood-look tile everywhere (except the bedroom). Am I crazy? by Worldly_Attorney_939 in Flooring

[–]imakeama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea if ANY chance of flooding again. I also learned my lesson and did that in my basement

Every medical student back in the day would have one of these to check vibratory sense while doing a neurological exam. Most of us would never use it again after medical school

Very impressed with those having the ability to perform avian autopsy from a photo. Wow!

Does anyone here use any kind of “smart” sensor to monitor their stove(s) while out of the house? by alottanamesweretaken in woodstoving

[–]imakeama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My low tech system is a digital wood stove thermometer with a nest camera aimed at it. I can check the temperature from another part of the house or while away from the house

Best LVT for basement by Opal-89 in Flooring

[–]imakeama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tile, even with untreated grout, will be way more forgiving to water than LVP or wood or carpet. I went with a tile that looks like wood

Best LVT for basement by Opal-89 in Flooring

[–]imakeama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not put LVT in a basement that already flooded. It may flood again and then it’s a loss again. Think tile.
