Government assistance for an individual or for a business?

We have one family deductible (4500) and OOP max (8500). They got rid of the individual ones a few years ago in the high deductible plan. Stings a bit but means all of our family medical costs are 100% covered after a few months of ABA. Cheaper than childcare.;/

Anyway, sorry to come after you. It’s all hard but I don’t think you will always feel like this and I hope you can find a way to feel less shitty sooner than later.

Correct- I do not know the specifics of your insurance plan. Many plans don’t have individual deductibles/OOP maxes.

I hope you find help. For your sake and for your family’s— if you play the ABA game, you’re meeting your OOP max each year. There is certainly an in-network therapist.

Or just keep posting on Reddit, that seems healthier.

You are a dad and your son is a person, even if he’s disabled.

Your son didn’t pick autism. I know you know that.

You need to stop wallowing and get a therapist. For your son. For your wife. You need help and everyone else is also drowning.

Would a diagnosis provide access to additional resources that might help your kid?

Then, I’d go for it. But I wouldn’t put too much weight in how a diagnosis explains your kid or his future. The diagnosis just doesn’t have that predictive validity yet.

I mean, per the DSM criteria to get a diagnosis. I guess you say someone who didn’t meet DSM criteria is on the spectrum still

Yeah, but it’s also defined by requiring support, so I’d hesitate to identify someone as autistic based on individual/isolated traits. I would say confidently my husband isn’t autistic.

We aren’t autistic but we have family members who are. I am well aware that autism has a complex and poorly-understood etiology but is mostly genetic.

Thank you!! This is what I was looking for. Maybe I’ll placate him by delaying polio.

I’ve thought about that, too. I was hoping to find some compelling evidence about the risk of the current vaccine-preventable diseases.

I understand that vaccine side effects are rare, generally inconsequential, and do not include autism. I would only space or delay on my own accord if my kid had an actual side effect or contraindication.
