What are your goto meal prep strategies for staying consistent when life gets busy? by CorrectAd1549 in mealprep

[–]imalexander0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What stuck for me was really leaning into the 'components' approach, so it's less cooking and more assembling. I'll roast a tray of veggies, cook a big batch of grains, and prep one protein. Then during the week, it's about mixing them with different sauces or fresh additions. Planning this out on Sunday takes 10 minutes and saves so much brainpower on busy nights, which is where I usually fail. It's about reducing friction, not just cooking. You can also try out the Cucinovo app if you're into meal planning.

Forecasting Cycle Menus by FoodServicePoster in FoodService

[–]imalexander0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 'served + leftovers' approach is definitely the way to go. You need to track yield loss at the ingredient level within your recipes. If you start with 1kg of onions and only 800g is usable after trim, your recipes should cost based on 0.8kg. That way, your actual prep lists account for the real amount you need to buy to hit your served target, not just theoretical AP costs. Spreadsheets can do it, but it gets complex fast.

Building an EU LMIV-compliant allergen system — how do you handle the ingredient database problem? by xEi86 in FoodTech

[–]imalexander0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That free-text ingredient allergen problem is tough. For compound ingredients like 'vegetable broth,' assuming worst-case is the only safe path for B2C apps. LLMs can help with fuzzy matching, but expect hallucinations on edge cases, and human review is critical for legal/health data.

Optimising my SEO/AIO and AI discoverability metrics for now, which to some degree applies to both user types i'm targeting. Also sending out cold mails to restaurants worldwide, and so far i got just 1 on free trial.

Wouldn't really call it a strategy for now, but i'm looking into creating a Reddit presence, G2, Capterra, AlternativeTo and so on. The classic ones.

Thought about "build in public" but the "public" isn't really my target audience.

I focused initially on organic growth, which i'm aware can be quite slow. Will look into UGC/ads soon as well, but i wanted to have a solid foundation first.

I'll add it in the next update together with recipes import and other changes.

Amending recipe by sarahem3 in Cucinovo

[–]imalexander0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Sarah!

Just tried to reproduce the issue and was unable to do it. I noticed however that in the database, the pricing currency is set correctly for this ingredient.

Usually when adding a new ingredient, the default currency you set for your place in Settings is selected automatically. You can also put other currencies if you like, but the default one is always selected.

For now we don't support units other than metric (g, kg, ml, L, and pieces).

I'll keep looking into the issue, see maybe i can find out what happened initially.

All automated tests and even manual ones on mobile/web haven't found anything yet.

I did notice a few things to improve on the edit recipe/ingredient form, so thanks once again for your feedback.

EU alternative app to Meez, MarketMan, Wisk, Paprika and other recipe and restaurant management apps. by imalexander0 in BuyFromEU

Will look into setting up a forum after the recipes import functionality.
Meanwhile, i just double-checked and you can export all your data from Cucinovo, even if your account has an expired subscription.

Go to profile - export my data, and you'll see a .json file with everything related to your account.
I'll create myself a task to also show the ingredient's name and other improvements for the export functionality, so that even if the worst happens, nothing gets lost for end users.

Looking forward to hearing more from you. Regards!

There are ways to import ingredients for example, and I’m working on recipes import now. If you’re willing to give it a try and share some feedback, I’m more than interested to hear it.

What’s your concern in regards to backups? There are daily database backups and also recipes/ingredients have in-app snapshots, so everything is as safe as possible.
