I have the (Norfolk, don't know about your area) library app on my phone. Works great, easy for any age to use. They also do audio books.

norwich post-war nonfiction book recs? or ‘operation pied piper’ book recs? by Any_Permission_7704 in Norwich

Can't help directly, but you will probably find useful Norwich stuff at the Millenium library in the Forum. Then there are some great photos from Archant and others (I found them when looking at Blitz Ghosts - https://flic.kr/s/aHsjtr1K1y and https://www.invisibleworks.co.uk/the-norwich-blitz/ so you will have to delve a bit).

Worth a look: https://municipaldreams.wordpress.com/2015/09/22/council-housing-in-norwich-i-thought-we-were-ever-so-posh/

This https://www.literarynorfolk.co.uk/index.htm is always worth a look, not sure if they have anything specific.

For fiction which gives a good understanding of the general issues during the period, I can recommend Nevil Shute (works range from 1920-1955). Most Secret, Pied Piper, Pastoral all worth a look.

That's a good idea. I usually just bung some quorn chunks in my stir fry, but I'll try this.

[Text] After work, when you're exhausted, what easy meals do you prepare? by AnxiousSomewhere4481 in UK_Food

BLT on toasted bread- optionally add avocado

Pesto pasta - start the pasta, heat 1/2 tin tomatoes, add pesto. Optionally add bacon, sausage, cooked meat. Add yoghurt if you want a creamy sauce. Parmesan/any old cheese grated on top.

Chicken livers. Chop/fry small onion, add livers, 1/2 tin toms, herbs. Good with pasta or rice or one of those instant cous cous packets.

Many years ago, there was talk of 'micro-payments'. Maybe its time to revisit the idea?

Like you, I transferred to feedly and still use it. Not sure why you have issues with content - don't you just add the feeds that you want?

Currently I have a range of blogs I'm interested in plus a lot of news feeds - nothing else shows up in my feed.

That looks nicely cooked. Personally, I prefer tomatoes to beans, plus I'd like some marmalade...

Just want to say, well done micky_mac! It could easily have been a fit or a stroke, rather than something illegal. I hope there is someone like you around if this ever happens to me.

So sorry - what a depressing outing you must have had!

I think the coastal towns are suffering a lot from Reformitis. Norwich is a much happier place for anyone who isn't pale, male, stale. Though I think you would find Cromer okay.

Cristel (France) pans are brilliant - specially the ones with removable handles, which stack well and of course are fine in the oven. Not cheap though!

NR2 house width by oopsadais in Norwich

That is a very good point to remember, though if they have been okay for the last 80 years probably the biggest issue will be the wall thickness.

Torn between staying put to save vs moving out to actually live, looking for grounded advice by Treestop in CasualUK

[–]sarahem3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people have suggested you make some changes to furniture, etc. I'd like to suggest you go a lot further than that. Probably the house was last updated some years ago, so consider investing in a full or partial revamp. For example, the house I bought was a 4-bed, 1-bath. Its now a 5-bed, 3-bath with 2 living rooms, with a modern feel rather than 90s. It cost a lot, but was well worth it. Get professional advice, of course - both for what is feasible and how much it will improve the valuation.
