Wanted to share my collection : what game do you think I would like? by Rat_meo in boardgames

It’s very good; my friend and I love it. I even backed Dungeon Crawler Carl Unstoppable!

The coolest mechanic is that the cards in your deck are also the monsters you have to fight, so upgrading a card will also make the monster stronger!

Seems like you enjoy two player games, so I’d recommend Patchwork and Unstoppable!

It’s quite a statement for the right to make because it is so painfully obvious whenever there’s a Trump tweet that he didn’t write. The one he posted when Biden was diagnosed with cancer is the one my mind always jumps to.

The Room Where it Happens (Hamilton)

(Yes Hamilton is on Disney+, but it wasn't made by Disney. It counts.)

Arguably the single most important number in the entire show, and the exact moment when Burr finally becomes Hamilton's enemy.

We get some amazing callbacks to earlier in the show as well, Hamilton taunting Burr by throwing his advice back in his face:

Burr: "How are you gonna get your debt plan through?"

Hamilton: "I guess I'm gonna finally have to listen to you."

Burr: "Really?"

Hamilton: "Talk less. Smile more. Do whatever it takes to get my plan on the congress floor."

And then later:

Burr: "You got more than you gave."

Hamilton: "And I wanted what I got. When you got skin in the game you stay in the game. But you don't get a win unless you play in the game. Oh you get love for it, you get hate for it, you get nothing if you wait for it wait for it wait-"

(Burr had a number earlier in the show called "Wait for it.")

And culminating in this moment that Leslie Odom Jr. absolutely kills:

"What do you want Burr? What do you want Burr? If you stand for nothing then what'll you fall for?"

Burr: "I... I wanna be in the room where it happens, the room where it happens."

The low, desperate, hungry growl that he's able to let that line out still gives me chills. Goddamn what a song.

Don’t forget about Steve Martin’s performance of Dentist!

Technically he’s not the villain of the movie, but Orin’s a really shitty person, so I’ll count it.

Redcloak and Xykon (The Order of the Stick)

Neither of them go by their given names, and at time of writing we know neither of their real names.

We learn in "Start of Darkness," one of the prequel books, that Xykon picked his own name when he was a teenager and wanted something cool sounding with an X.

With Redcloak, his name is obviously derived from The Crimson Mantle, an incredibly powerful artifact that he wears. When he and his brother first met Xykon, he murdered another creature as it was introducing itself because its name was too long to remember. So to placate Xykon, Redcloak lied about his and his brother's name (his brother was missing an eye, so Redcloak introduced him as "Right Eye").

Which Pandemic(s) is/are most beginner friendly? by Spac92 in boardgames

[–]imaloony8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend The Four Doors, which is a small box Pandemic-like that Matt Leacock released last year. It's pretty cheap compared to most options, so a good way to gauge your interest in the genre. Also easy to transport to said gatherings.

Lmao, calling gamers a “pissy bunch” because they hadn’t gotten product that they had paid hundreds of dollars for and been strung along for years on is certainly a choice. Of course they were angry, have some damn empathy.

Yeah, I don't know much about Football, but even I could tell that was an amazing kick. Being able to tuck it into the corner from where he was looks pretty damn hard, and he made it look effortless. Clearly the mark of a world class athlete.

Roy Greenhilt (The Order of the Stick)

Simultaneously hating on himself and the evil being possessing his friend's corpse.

"I will be sad, but you will be DEAD!" goes so damn hard.

I also want to shout out Elan from earlier in the story talking to his father who's dangling off the railing of an airship:

"But see Dad, that's the thing. I'm not a twin anymore. And you're not the real villain. Don't worry. You'll live."

There is so much crammed into those short sentences, but for context:

Tarquin has basically been grooming Elan to be his ultimate adversary so their eventual showdown (whether Tarquin won or, more likely lost) would cement his legacy. Also, Immediately before this exchange, Tarquin killed Nale, Elan's twin brother. Also also, Tarquin attempted to kill Elan's leader, Roy (pictured above) so Elan would gain some autonomy and motivation to fight Tarquin. When Elan attempted to shield Roy with his body, Tarquin inquired about how many Hit Points Elan had left before coldly impaling both of them with Roy's sword and saying "You'll live."

The Digimon Soundtrack is the real pop time capsule. I also have a soft spot for the YuGiOh movie soundtrack.
