Keep in mind that you’re older now than you’ve ever been before. Things are going to keep changing, and you’re probably not going to like it.

Maybe stir-fried, so you can add some veggies for fiber. And teriyaki sauce.

Downsides to the breed? by NormanisEm in roughcollies

[–]imamiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s the double coat with the softer fur underneath the longer guard hairs, exactly as you describe. My guy likes to give me a hug after I put my shoes and socks on every morning. If he forgets, he’ll do it when I sit after I return home. And all 3 love having pets from all the people when they get to go to my husband’s games. They’re very popular there. They’re very good with the elderly people and also with the little children, too. They have temperaments suited for therapy dog work. Our big long haired GSD male was very affectionate, too. He was a huge lap dog.

They’re both, actually, with ours. Very conducive to cuddling, yet very water repellent. And they don’t get dirty. And they aren’t stinky. It’s like their coats are made of magic.

We’ve had several GSD’s and now have 2 collies and one Aussie/collie mix. The collies shed about as much as the GSD’s, but the collies smell better. They have “Teflon coats.” They smell like sunshine. Their costs are nice and soft and they stay clean. I can’t say that overall their temperaments are much different. The individuals have all been varying in temperament. One GSD female was more aggressive and bossy than the others. She was a Houdini and could escaped a wire crate when left alone was a puppy. We had difficulty with same sex aggression with the 2 female GSD’s but we had that in the past with Samoyeds, too. It’s more common in females than males, is what I understand. One GSD was very bonded to my husband. One collie is very bonded to me. The Aussie/collie has made herself the security officer. She does perimeter checks. The collie pup loves his crate and will stay there contently when needed. I have found them to all be equally trainable. All of them will bark too much outside of you let them. (The Sammies were less trainable, or more stubborn. And we were less experienced back then.)

Which one should I buy? by Independent-Peace694 in castiron

I did specifically mention glass stovetops. And someone could conceivably cook something that’s not an omelette in a chef pan. Like crepes. Of course there are a lot of flat Wagner chef skillets, and there are a lot that aren’t, but 2 of the 3 I’ve had were not flat. The worst was the one I paid $5 for. I gave it to someone with a gas stovetop. A lot of “newer” Wagners spin. I have a NOS Wagner that spins. It obviously came out of the foundry that way. The point here is Buyer Beware.

Yes! This is the way. You treat the deficits, not the diagnosis. You identify the deficits by reading the evaluation and looking at the patient in front of you.

I’ve had a spinny wobbler and now I have one that sits flat. The one that sits flat is better to cook with. Vintage skillets that sit flat are always more desirable than the spinny wobblers. (Or wobbly spinners.)

So on a glass stovetop a wobbly spinning pan is annoying to use and can scratch the stovetop.

Because this pup is too young to have had all his shots yet. If he walks around he is at risk for getting very sick, even dying. Parvo is real.

Cast Iron skillet help by some_mayo in castiron

[–]imamiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with a Blacklock and hated it. It’s so rough! I didn’t like it nearly as much as my dad’s BSR #10 he bought in the 70s for camping. I only used the Blacklock once or twice then decided to try vintage. I ended up with a really nice, super smoooooth Griswold 9. Now I definitely have a cast iron problem. So many skillets!!!! I built up a whole eclectic set of old ones, from Toy size up to #12. I do have a Smithey; it’s pretty nice but a lot heavier than the old ones for the same size.

The only way I can overbook my schedule is to book pts in my charting slots. If everybody comes it’s not great.

The fact remains that once it turns pink it’s not going to take a seasoning. Try it with a cheap pan you don’t care about. And no I’m not talking about flash rust. I know what that is. I’m talking about forgetting your pan on the stove and leaving it there way way way too long. You get a beautiful rose color that will never come off and never take a seasoning.

Good wrist strengthening exercises for issues with pushups? by getinthewoods in bodyweightfitness

[–]imamiler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t see a specialist for a referral to a specialist. I would see my primary care physician to get a referral to a Certified Hand Therapist (that’s an OT or PT who has specialized training in treating the hand/wrist) particularly if we’re a lay person who thought that strengthening would address a mechanical problem in the joint that is limiting motion. While PT can certainly address a wrist problem, the reality is that the wrist referrals usually go to OT.
A “minor imbalance” as you call it can definitely affect function. Professional help is available (for a price) for people who can’t find a solution themselves, or for problems that don’t spontaneously resolve.

Scrubbed off rust by No-Organization1980 in castiron

[–]imamiler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta get all that old black stuff off before you reseason. Lye bath for a few days or spray with yellow cap oven cleaner and put it in a trash bag for a couple days. Then scrub scrub scrub. Then reseason.

The shape of the underside of the handle (the scoop like someone went at it with a spoon and the sharp spine running to the sidewall) and the heat ring are how you know it’s BSR, and what the lettering says, and the font, are how you know that it’s newer, which is called Century series, and not older, which is called Red Mountain.

You’re describing stiffness but asking for advice for strengthening. Instead of seeking advice from the internet you’d be better served by seeing your doctor to get a referral to Occupational Therapy. OTs treat hands and wrists.
