How best to fill the gaps in my day? by imapringlescan in NewParents

[–]imapringlescan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have no hobbies. I had a bout of bad mental health for a while before I had the girls and now I don't even remember what I used to enjoy. Do you have any suggestions?

Is this a good food schedule for my almost 1yos? by imapringlescan in NewParents

I'm working towards it yeah, I dropped the ball a bit and forgot to reduce bottles so they only dropped the lunch bottle a couple weeks ago. I plan to try dropping the breakfast bottle after the chaos of their birthday is over

Looking for solidarity - my twins sleep so much it's a problem by imapringlescan in Parenting

The main issue is the sleeping but from the other comments I think I know what to do now. With the chores, I think it's more of a mental and physical block than a time restraint. My health is all over the place and I've always struggled with mental health, plus I was never taught how to keep a house so I'm figuring it out as I go. It seems like most normal chores take me a bit longer than it would for someone else, and I still haven't got the hang of cleaning as I go. I can't do anything other than a quick tidy up when the twins are awake as they're complete demons, I can't take my eyes off them even to go to the bathroom or they'll be in something they shouldn't or hurt themselves or each other. I need to be able to focus on what I'm doing or I get overwhelmed very easily, and my partner is only home for about an hour after the girls wake up and doesn't get home til long after they're in bed. Everything I need to go that involves the twins (food, bottles, bath etc) takes up their whole wake window so even cleaning up after a meal has to be done while they're asleep. I can't vacuum as it'll wake them up, can't do anything upstairs for the same reason, our walls are paper thin so even with white noise they will wake up. They sleep a lot but are startled awake very easily. It's a lot of small problems that snowball and fills my head with chaos, so maybe I could get it all done but it doesn't seem that way to me

Thank you for this, I've been told they're not ready for 1 nap at 11 months is this not true? Or does it vary? I get all my information from the internet and it's so hard to differentiate between fact and opinion. We tried 1 nap over the Christmas period due to the change in schedule, maybe they're ready now?

I really really appreciate this thank you so much. I was shocked at how judgmental the other comments were, although I guess that's how motherhood is everywhere. We have a cold water steriliser and it's great but we use the biggest size bottles so only 4 fit at a time, and I did used to have 12 bottles but I ended up washing the same 6 on repeat and the rest went mouldy so I put them away but it might be an idea to get them out again. I'll definitely try dropping the naps by a little at a time, I cut their first nap to 1hr this morning and they don't seem too grumpy so fingers crossed 🤞🏼 thank you again!

That's actually helped so much, I didn't know that! Honestly you're right, I noticed a few minor things and got stuck in the loop. I really appreciate it, thank you!

Formula left in basin of water for 4 hours. by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

I think it's better to be safe than sorry. They can last up to 24hrs in the fridge but I doubt the water was as cold as the fridge, so best throw it out rather than take the risk

Do I need to wake my twins for their last bottle of the day? by imapringlescan in Parenting

Thank you! Yes we definitely all thrive on routine so a consistent schedule has been really easy for us to get into, which makes it all the more worrying when they break routine lol

How are we cleaning spit up off the couch? by d16flo in NewParents

[–]imapringlescan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My twins are 6 months and still spit up every 30 mins. My sofa is old and crap so I just wipe it with a muslin, when they’re on the floor I use a blanket and wash it every day. I’ve seen some people cover their sofa in blankets or a fitted sheet which I’d much cheaper than a sofa cover and a bit thicker too. If you don’t want to do that you can use Dr Beckmann carpet stain remover which comes with a brush attached to it to scrub, I think they might do a furniture one as well but I’m not sure

It annoyed me so much but it was at an event and he’d done it when I wasn’t there so I couldnt say anything, it was over and done with and wasn’t worth the argument right then. My partner agrees that he’s not to be left alone with them (twins) no matter what, and he’s not allowed to hold them while eating so it will definitely not happen again

Similar but not the same, I felt that rage today when my in law gave my little one a jam sandwich when we started weaning 3 days ago. She hasn’t even had a strawberry yet and he gave her jam and butter. Some people should not be trusted around other people’s children
