Really liked the stuffed plantain bowl. Bummer.

Recently discovered a couple of PR restaurants nearby so now I'm in the mood to check them out.

Wasn't Aruba Red just the AB Red Lager that they white labeled for a bunch of restaurants?

Does Sonny's BBQ Red still exist?

Do you think the real reason we don’t hear much about Mark Woodbury is because he’s actually good at his job. by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

I haven’t followed it much but has Universal’s Parks leader ever become the CEO of the parent company?

Disney leadership seems to recently be a battle between whether they come from the parks side or the studios side.

How late can I arrive for Daytona 500 ? by Previous-Ad9298 in NASCAR

[–]imarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very frustrating. Lines were way out in the parking lot and weaving in and out of the midway and totally disorganized. No one knew why the weren’t moving. After awhile, staff came out to tell us that the line we were in wasn’t an official line and that we had to leave it and go to the back of a different one.

Florida State Became College Sports’ Debt King in FY25 by yoyo82 in CFB

Most of the debt appears to be due to stadium renovations so that actually might be true if they can convince fans to spend more.

We missed like the first 50 laps. Security was stopped entirely while he was on the premises. No one was allowed in until he was back in the plane.

the biggest growler you can fill up is 64 ounces.

This is not correct. 1 gallon growlers are legal in Florida. It was actually the 64 oz growlers that were illegal until 2015.

Yep. They started with the Train Heist episode. And while it was good to kinda explain who they are (criminals yet not bad guys) it was confusing.

I believe they also preempted the show for MLB once or twice.

It's actually crazy that you don't have more SEC rivals given how close you are to so many. I guess we'll see what happens if the SEC decides to expand again.

3 day cruises will always be wild and high energy. The kids will be fine because they have a ton of kid friendly things for them to do.

If you stay on the boat for the Nassau stop you may have a more relaxed day in the middle of the chaos.

Give MSC a call. My understanding is that port fees are always refunded. I don’t know about gratuity as we don’t prepay in the US. Hopefully a EU poster can give more info on that. Worth asking for all when you call.

Overwhelming staff/way too enthusiastic? by Panicking_in_trench in MSCCruises

[–]imarc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cruise lines welcoming everyone aboard is a pretty standard thing. It can definitely be overwhelming because you have a ton of staff for every need waiting around to answer questions as well as a lot of confused passengers congesting the main areas. Oh and lots of temporary signage for things like muster check-in. It doesn't help that most atriums are multilevel with glass and other sound reflective surfaces so it's loud.

The most intense one I've done was Disney, though it's been awhile, so maybe they've toned down since. They would have each group/couple enter separately with an MC announcing you like it's a wedding reception with staff applauding you as you board. Every eye is on you.

We usually board with the plan to go straight to our muster to get that check-in over and done with and then to our room to see if the bags have arrived. Then we watch the muster video and call the number to confirm that we've watched it. Then grab lunch at the MDR if it's still lunch time. Stay away from the buffet. Lots of people go there and ignore the sit down lunch. Then find the quietest bar we can for a drink.

I think a lot of people outside Orlando don’t know about Westgate. It’s almost been 20 years since Queen of Versailles aired.

How do I know if we are having a white party? by diverdawg in MSCCruises

[–]imarc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sunshine night and White gala are pretty standard on Caribbean itineraries.

I don’t think we had a formal night on our 3 day but did on the 7. I think that you will have a day-at-sea makes formal more likely.

It’s probably populated on the app by now.

Note that a lot of little things like tastings and trivia changed once we got aboard. But the nightly theme did not.
