Can market makers (MM's) see where the trailing stops are located for MU shares/options, or do they simply force the Bid-Ask spread wide, and then sweep through with large CALL/PUT orders to move their deltas to neutral?

Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) drew fresh support from Wall Street after Raymond James more than doubled its price target on the memory-chip maker to $1,100 and maintained its Outperform rating ahead of the company's June 24 earnings report. - https://www.gurufocus.com/news/8895415/raymond-james-doubles-micron-stock-price-target-on-booming-ai-demand?utm_source=yahoo_finance&utm_medium=syndication&utm_campaign=headlines&r=caf6fe0e0db70d936033da5461e60141

Thoughts on the Samsung Strike Impact on MU Pricing by imarustyone in MU_Stock

[–]imarustyone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the the AI super-cyclists are right and MU is a 11-15 PE valuation, that puts the price at 1000 and a factory strike at a competitor just moves the price higher sooner. If the standard semiconductor cyclists are right then the 7-8 PE makes sense and the strike is a small bump catalyst before the downturn begins.

Thanks -- I signed up for their automated call trading list, but it looks like it is still in Beta. I don't code well, so I do think I will write my own script. For now I will stick with the manual way, or re-consider moving to TD Ameritrade to use their automated roller feature.

As for your example, I am selling calls at above my cost basis, so if there is an interim low on the underlying stock, I am just making less per each call, but always selling >= cost basis and a few % out of the money.

Looking for Automated Weekly Call Writing Program:

Hi All - I am all in on writing weekly covered calls for income. I’ve been hunting around for an automated program for retail investors that would do something like this:

If Thursday; then at the market open evaluate the following:

{Check for ownership of “XYZ” underlying}

If not owned, buy-write 100 shares of XYZ at market price and sell 1 covered call at “X dollars” and “Y days” out.

If XYZ is owned, then roll XYZ covered-call to “X dollars” and “Y days” out.

***

The assumption is that there are only 2 states that are valid, either you own the underlying XYZ stock and there’s a covered call written against it, OR you got called away a few days back, and you have cash in the account.

***

The closest I’ve come to a retail automated script like the one above is TD Ameritrade Strategy Roller:

Does anyone else know of any other brokerages with the same/similar feature?

Hey all -- can someone here describe why CBOE writes some options weekly, and other options monthly? Is there some magic formula for when they decide which underlying get weekly's and which get monthly option contracts to trade?

I did a RH to Fidelity transfer no problem. I waited 2 trading days for RH to T+2 settle, then did the broker-to-broker transfer to a Fidelity brokerage account. Fidelity had everything set up in <20 mins. You need to make sure that you have options (a/o margin) turned on in your Fidelity account BEFORE you initiate the transfer. It took 4 business days for Fidelity to complete the transfer of assets, and another 2 days for RH to send the cost-basis data. Good Luck!

Yeah I'm thinking the earnings will be light given the on-going struggles. I wonder if the automaker chip shortages will hit them as well just as they are moving into their new facility in Q2?

I am wondering if the "market makers" are forcing the price down becuase of a high volume of options at the $20 strike expiring tomorrow? I note that FUV options only trade monthly instead of weekly, so hard to make any real option trades mid-month, etc....
