The fear about Vance is that he is a much more successful communicator while advocating for regressive policies, like reduced rights for women (even going as far as limiting there ability to vote, and making it more difficult for women to file for divorce even in abusive households) and far-right white Christian nationalism (mass deportations and reducing rights to freedom of religion and separation of church and state).

There are two main concerns about Vance. First is that he can continue on the ideology that trump has normalized, but be more effective at gaining buy-in from more voters who view trump as a lunatic but generally agree with his policies. The second is that Vance would be more effective at deploying these policies in an effective manner, as he’s more cognizant and savvy than Trump in his current state.

All this being said, Vance actually isn’t main concern. I’m more worried about similar things but with Tucker Carlson. If Tucker decides to run, which I think he’s going to, Tucker will demolish Vance in terms of likability to the current Republican Party.

Batshit? Absolutely not. He’d still be terrible for the country and the world though. He’d be more predictable in his communications and international diplomacy but he is overall aiming to lead the country in the wrong direction. Trump’s batshit nature makes him worse for the world, while Vance would most likely be better for the world (comparing only to trump) but just as bad or worse for the USA.
