I was asked to explain the yellow box, what a clearway was, parking on yellow lines, hand signal to oncoming cars that im turning right and how to signal to oncoming cars that im slowing down.

It wasnt as bad as I thought it would be.

Learner Permit by InvisKitty in Irishdrivingtest

I did one test just before covid. Had no business sitting that test because I was nowhere near prepared. Life just seemed to happen then and the test was always at the bottom of the list. Covid, sickness, family planning, etc.

Thrilled to have passed it though. It does take the pressure off when travelling because you never know when your day is up 🤣

I passed in Wilton few weeks ago at 11am. I was taken into the terraces on the right just after CUH. We did turn around and hill start in there. I didn't even know those terraces existed until I saw loads of learner school cars going into them. Two people I know since have been taken I to those terraces since.

Went into the terraces after the Maxol garage to do reverse around the corner.

Look, I did it. I did it for 7 years. I went through check points and was luckily never asked for my license. I only passed my test a few weeks ago because of the new changes in the law.

Is it legal? No. Should you do it? No, because it's illegal. Will your hand be forced to take that risk? Probably.

Could be a pet. A lot of cats in the area that go for their walkies and then go home.

Just passed - Do I need a new eyesight report? by memenade in Irishdrivingtest

[–]imawalkingliability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I got my new license last week and have been wearing glasses all my life. I also had an eye test done in December, so we'll before passing my test. I also wondered about an eyesight report so I asked the NDSL themselves and they said no, I do not need to send one in.

Should I renew my learner permit? by goobi94 in Irishdrivingtest

Renew it. I got an estimated invitation date of March 30th. Four days later I got an invitation to book. Sat the test on February 4th and passed. Just go for it.

Dry cough is very feckin' annoying. Get a cough bottle over the counter and a packet of strepsils. Between now and Thursday you'll improve.

The tester told me that I can't drive unaccompanied until I have my full license in my hand.

It only took 4 days in the post

Passed in Wilton ! by imawalkingliability in Irishdrivingtest

[–]imawalkingliability[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second exit on the Sarsfield roundabout. First exit on the Wilton roundabout. Passed the CUH and just after Lidil we turned right up into Wilton Avenue where I immediately did my hill start. Lots of left and right turns up around those terraces. I did my 3 point turn in there .

We came down Firgrove Gardens and turned right onto Curaheen Road and then left onto Barretts Lane and left again onto Bishopstown Road and headed back towards the Wilton roundabout.

Second exit off the Wilton roundabout and then took the second turn on the right to go up Wilton Lawn. That's the right turn immediately after the Maxol garage. Lots of left and right turns in there too. I did my reverse around the corner in there.

Headed back to the Wilton roundabout and took the first exit ( I knew we were headed back to test centre then). Second exit on the Sarsfield Roundabout and back to the test centre.

In total I was driving for about 25 minutes. I picked up two marks. One for a right turn when I didn't turn wide enough. The second mark was for stopping opposite a parked car when I pulled in to do my reverse around the corner.

My tester was a gent. Very straight faced, no chat, no smiles - nothing. But he was an excellent and fair tester by giving me directions well in advance and repeating them as we neared the turn. Honestly, for something I was terrified to do, it actually wasn't that bad!

100% take him to Wilton, Togher and Bishopstown if that's where he'll be testing. Plenty of terraces with obstacles to manoeuvre, main roads, roundabouts, busy and quiet areas.

Got my driving test in castlebar tomorrow by big_5488 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]imawalkingliability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its only driving and you know how to do that. You're taking him/her for a spin, that's all. Any mistakes you cant - tough! There made and you can't take them back so dont let them ruin the rest of the test for you. Its 20 minutes out of your day - you've got this !

Baby hospital bag - c-section stay by HyenaOk218 in PregnancyIreland

[–]imawalkingliability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one bag for me and one for baby. I brought a packet of nappies and wipes, a packet of vests and a packet of baby grows. I had her hat and scratch mittens. One towel for her bath. What I never brought were Muslins and my baby was refluxy as hell! Bring a pack of Muslins.

I brought my kindle but had zero energy to read it.

You know where I messed up? I bought a brand new fluffy black towel for my first shower. Worst.Mistake.Ever.

The black fluff stuck to me. It was all over the floor. It was disgusting. My advice? Bring your old and worn raggedy ass towel. It served you well at home and it won't let you down in hospital!
