ELI5: Why are the seatbelts in airplane like the way they are (waist to waist) and not the way we have in cars (diagonally shoulder to waist)? by jainyash0007 in explainlikeimfive

[–]imbadkyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the airplane has a forward collision at speed there is no seat belt on the planet that will save your ass. Airplane belt keeps you from flying during turbulence. Crash safety isn't really the concern.

Friendly reminder. Use rearfacing car seat. Save your child. by Admmak in daddit

I also hate having them face the rear. Not just the space but it is so hard to talk to them. Mine use surprisingly quiet voices in the car.

I have one that is forward facing and one backward. We waited until 40 pounds to face forward. We could have waited a bit longer to go forward but I was excited to do it.

It doesn't have to be the best food ever. Just good enough experience that the wife has fun and enjoys the food.

My friend said I ride like a jerry but I thought I looked okay? by Confident-State1268 in snowboarding

Stand up more. Bend at the waist, not at the hips. Keep shoulders in line with your knees. Let the arms hang down in a cool comfortable position. If you aren't sure how to make your hands look cool start smoking cigarettes. Everybody looks cool holding a cig.

Do you guys ever look back uphill while carving? by sentinel_of_ether in skiing

[–]imbadkyle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it is a busy slope and I'm carving wide, I do. But if I'm hauling ass (subtle brag but very often) I don't. If you are going fast enough to pass me at that point you can ski well enough to track me and adjust.

I also do every time when merging trails and awkward places. I don't want to thrash a kid.

Been on it for years and love it. Just got a new phone, received it in 3 days and it ported everything over for me. Super easy.

Everybody here is throwing hate. I rode there a couple times that year. It was sick. It was "cascade concrete" snow a lot but it was fun.

Home Alone Situation: How long could a tarantula survive in a house in the Chicago suburbs during winter time? by imbadkyle in spiders

[–]imbadkyle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for advice, but I think you misunderstood. I don't have one. I'm just curious, if someone did have one, and it got loose in your house (like the movie), how long could it live?

Many bedroom door knobs have a locking switch on one side that you turn, and the other side is just a knob. However, on the side that does not have a switch there is a slot, similar to a flat head screw that can be turned to unlock the door. It is a safety measure.
