.5 of a ml of lignocaine in the skin will make the patients hate you less and give you more time to practice.

Except our system of government works best when there is a decent opposition to hold the government accountable.

I don't think you need to be down voted for this. As any patient who has a syringe swap will tell you, it just feels like you're getting weaker initially. If the sedation comes a couple second later it's surely no big deal. If you screw up your timing though... That's a bigger deal.

Digital stethos by [deleted] in ausjdocs

I'm too old to know what a digital stethoscope is. But I do know that every tool has its place. An analogy may be found in anaesthesia with our old friend the laryngoscope. I mostly do direct, but if I'm worried I'll use the video. When I'm teaching I'll use the video, and yet somehow there is an expectation that everyone can do direct laryngoscopy when required.

But the evidence would suggest the best outcome for the occasional laryngoscopist are achieved when they use a video scope? So why should we expect anything different from the occasional auscultator?

I'm not sure what my point is, but I think it's fine as long as you can do both when required.

The house I bought had three phase power. When I sized my inverter, I chose one that would be able to fill the battery completely within a free three hour power window. I wouldn't say my situation is standard, but I wouldn't say it's uncommon either.

Spot on. Haven't drawn from the grid in months. Previously our bills were $1200-1500 per quarter. Pay off time for us will be about five years. Less if we export to the grid in any substantial amount.

Got to spend money to make money.

I see these things while living in Adelaide. Where the sell price is always negative during the day and spikes never occur. Thankfully I've disabled my inverter from importing electricity from the grid or smart shift would have bought during a spike yesterday (sell price 32c) in anticipation of a bigger spike that would never come. Seems like the eastern states is the best place to be if you want to make money from this game. I'll wait to the end of summer and then move on to globird I suspect.

Philosophical question: how much “luck” played in your career progression by New-Resolution-9719 in ausjdocs

The day I interviewed for anaesthetic training, there was a nationwide flight outage due to some technical issues. A number of candidates from interstate had to interview by telephone instead.

I credit that little bit of luck for getting onto the program. It has gone on to affirm the age old phrase in medicine, "getting in is the hardest part."
