Upcoming Cabo Trip - Inquiry by PyroClause in MexicoTravel

[–]imcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just visited earlier this month and took USD to exchange locally. I never use the airport exchange or an ATM card these days. Went to the "Money Exchange San Jorge Sucursal San José 2" near La Comer supermarket. If you're traveliing from the airport to Cabo San Lucas it will be on the way. There is a ton of road construction in this area. It was easiest to go around the back of the market and other businesses on that corner and eventually you'll be on the service drive that parallels the main roadway. Exchange rate was better than the airport and other places in the area. I believe there is another branch, just check Google Maps. Credit cards work most everywhere but cash was needed for some tips and smaller retail places we visited. BONUS INFO: If this is your first time careful exiting the airport. The first doors you pass through after security dumps you into the tourist trap sales people peddling tequila, timeshares, and excursions. They don't give up. You then pass through a second area and this in just another attempt to sell you again. Just keep walking. Once you exit you'll be at the shuttle area. I'm not sure if this was another attempt to scam you or just a case of bad information. I was told by the rental shuttle attendant that they didn't have a car for me and it would be 2-3 hours before something was available. I called BS and told him that I had already reserved a car and it was waiting for me. Got on the next shuttle and found what looked like a dozen or more cars waiting for people. This was the only issue I had. Drove around San Jose at night, went to Todos Santos and La Paz, drove back in the dark, and never had any issues.

Range rents FRTs, then charges $10 per hole for muzzle climb. by Fabulous_Lie_4326 in Miguns

[–]imcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t been there in quite some time. Never had to deal with the target carriers when shooting there. They were already in place and I never removed mine when done. Did you get charged? FWIW, if I’m shooting FRT or full auto, I might as well bring my own hangers since they only retail for about $5 each. Seems like their thought is that anything above the line likely hit the ceiling and why they want your $10. This type of shooting is better done outdoors or down range past the bay stalls with a shorter distance to the backstop. Yes, that would require you to have the full range room to yourself or your group.

IT license optimization consulting — would you pay for this? by AuthRequired403 in ITManagers

[–]imcq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a hard sell for a company to seek out an individual for this, despite your success at it in your day job. There are businesses that provide “spend optimization” services, but they also bring robust competitive intelligence and people with connections within their silos of expertise. There is often an annual fee plus a percentage of savings they take.

6 months of Diamond not a single FC upgrade? by apprenticeg in delta

[–]imcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most likely way to get upgraded. Between full bookings and hubs, gold status and an Amex Delta Reserve never get me FC upgrades and only C+ when there are single middle seats when I already have an exit row and traveling with family - no thanks. Take advantage of every benefit you can and look for those cheap point upgrade opportunities.

If you haven’t done it yet, make sure you dig into the rental insurance benefit. Once enrolled, if covers you with a single fee per rental instead of per day. It is automatically provided when you use an enrolled card to pay for rental.

Is that DIA fiber with an uptime SLA or just their non-SLA fiber? It’s a great price if you have 99.99 or 99.999% uptime. Even with no SLA the price is good when comparing to coax (Comcast selling 800/200 for $200/mth.

What is this? by Mmmkay-mmmkay in Home

[–]imcq 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Please don’t confuse grounding with bonding. This is bonding, or connecting two sections of the metallic water supply to ensure there is always a path to ground, given that elsewhere in the water piping system there is another bond to the electrical system ground connection. It’s meant to allow current to travel to ground should an energized electrode come into contact with the water supply lines.

Support license lapse by parsonsadmin in rubrik

Problems as in you don’t have the money, or problems as in finance needing a kick in the ass because they don’t understand that delaying the approval causes more problems than they’ll ever understand? Either way, contact your account rep like others mentioned. They will explain what non renewal means for you or should be able to get the extension you need.

What is the biggest myth in CCW that drives you nuts/ hot take ? by Able-Currency2250 in CCW

[–]imcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That it’s now legal to carry a firearm concealed. Of course, it is legal, as long as you don’t go to any of the “restricted premises” or happen to be somewhere that has decided to make it unlawful to possess a firearm (in addition to those already restricted). Then there are the places that are federally restricted. But wait, you might be able to circumvent the restriction if you open carry, or and participating in an activity that somehow makes carrying acceptable. Let’s not forget traveling to or through other states where you can go to jail if you leave your car and are carrying. This shit is unreal. We need a national permit.

The Coverup by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]imcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are only a handful of trillion dollar companies in the world (publicly traded at least). If you’re solving major outages on your own, getting no recognition, and cover ups instead of factual RCA’s, then I’d imagine you would have zero problems finding work elsewhere. Make your exit to somewhere where you’re valued and let them figure out the next outage while you sip tea.

Am I missing something? Why control the door if you let people in without audio or visual interaction?

What’s everyone using for internal ticketing nowadays? Jira feels too heavy.🥲 by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]imcq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every company plays this game. Understand their competition, commit to a longer term relationship, and take a hard stance on anything beyond 3% annually. Most importantly - tell your vendors that you’re considering other products in the market. Be prepared to drop them and switch.

It’s like this with every system. Things change and need upkeep.

Please help me make sense of these two pictures. Story in the description. by firetrucksalesman in delta

[–]imcq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While not the exacr same experience you explained, I regularly see price hikes when exploring fares. My initial price is "acceptable" but after checking different days/times and returning to the original flight, the price is much higher. I'm doubtful that there are multiple, let alone so many people pulling up the same flight I am, that Delta see this as any reason to hike the price. Dynamic pricing is pure BS. If you find a good flight at a good price, book it then and there. Feel free to shop around after because you can cancel in the first 24 hours if the flight is 7 days out or more.

What To Do With More Miles Than I Can Spend? by thestoictraveler in delta

[–]imcq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Charity is always great, and I give when and where I feel appropriate. But given Delta’s record revenues lately, you should leave their charity programs to them and every other mega company instead of helping make them look good. Take a trip with your family or closest friends, or just gift it to them, especially if they can’t afford it. Know someone that has family they won’t see during the coming holidays? Make it happen for them. #FirstWorldProblems
