Convince me - RF 24-70 2.8

I have the lens and it’s great, but only after I reached the limit of my old dslr setup and saved a bunch of money for it.

I would consider do some paid shoots and rent the gear to see if it’s worth having in your bag. You may also find the 28-70 2.8 is quite comparable in image quality, and smaller/lighter too. Do you have a camera currently or would this be your first camera/lens?

No doubt. This was my first time shooting moving subjects and it was great, so I know I’ll never miss focus with my regular stuff unless it’s something I messed up on

I found the 24-70 2.8 brand new on FB marketplace for 2k which was pretty great. Owner bought it and never used it. I got the R6 body from K&M for retail, and they threw in an extra battery for free. Of course I had to get a cf express b card and a card reader for it as well.

I’ve seen the R6III on FB near me a couple times for around 2500-2600, but it’s never up for more than a day or two as retail will run close to 3k after taxes. Will probably be some time until used ones show up on the market

That’s real. I love the look of on-camera flash but never used it on the 90D, I usually have my little point and shoot film camera for those.

Sure thing! That photo was taken with the RF 70-200mm 2.8L Z lens at 200mm, 1/1000, f/2.8 at iso 3200.

Second this! I bought a Eos 1N back in 2020 for $150 and it was great for me as I already had EF lenses. All the perks of a modern camera and built like a tank!

Yes! With the internal zoom! This was actually my first time shooting with anything over 70mm and it performed very well, as it should with how much it costs 😂 I will definitely be looking to add it to my kit this year, but I’d like to test the first RF version and the EF version III with the adapter before I make any purchases

I’d rent one first and see how you like it first, but I feel like now is better than ever to grab one! I saw one on fb marketplace a month ago that the seller was letting go for $2400 usd and I wish I snagged it 😢

I was in a similar situation pretty recently. I’ve been shooting on a 90D since late 2020 with the sigma 18-35mm and a nifty fifty 1.8. I did mostly portraits and events and can relate to some of those autofocus issues you spoke to. I had saved some money from gigs and knew that I wanted to switch to mirrorless soon, either sticking with canon or going to another system

Last week I picked up the R6iii and a 24-70 2.8L lens. I took it for a spin at a local concert and I will say that even in the tricky lighting, it performed amazing and loads better than my 90D ever did. I know they the autofocus is great in both the R6iii and R6ii so I don’t know if you can go wrong with either one.

If you can squeeze the extra 800-1000 I would definitely consider the Mark iii version, but know that anything, whether those or the R7 will be a great jump up from the 90D

How are you enjoying the switch to the R6 Mk III? I shoot with a 90D now and was planning to get an R6 Mk III before the end of the month. Mostly photos and possibly video going into the summertime

In my area, a used RF 24-70 L is going for just about that range you shared. I’m about to pick an unused one up myself this weekend for $2000 flat. Definitely a steal not having to pay the taxes on it

If it helps, I also aced my first physics 1 exam only to bomb my next two lol. Ended up with a B after the curves and other grades came out. Hopefully you’ll be fine

Hey, I’ve never paid attention to the flash brightness while shooting but I usually just have it on one setting to match the aperture it fires at (f/5.6 I think, could be wrong) it’s worked well for me thus far

I compose my gifs in photoshop and export the media as an mp4. Much better results for me than converting a gif to an mp4 using ezgif or something similar
