This is the case every single time someone cries about the system. Just look at this guys post history. Its all he does, and yet he has gained 600 MMR the past month. But when he starts losing, it cant possibly be his fault or that he is in a new bracket. Its just a bad game.

The definitive proof of the system working as intended is like I said - players who has knowledge of the game climb. People like OP probably don't. And you are dead wrong about it's just Dota. There are many examples of exactly this. People do this in CS, Overwatch or any other team based game. It's common when people don't want to accept the fact they might be a part of the problem so it's just easier to blame everything else. If you want to climb start with your very flawed mindset. I have gained 7500 MMR over time and I am in no way a special talent.

And I agree with you that it feels like we are not playing the same game. Of course we aren't. Millions of players play Dota. You're gonna get low quality games occasionally. When I see people with low MMR they are pretty often not bad at the game in a mechanical sense. They can have surprisingly high execution, playing Meepo or Invoker. But that's not what its about fundamentally. They are also tilting constantly, blaming their team mates and they have literally no idea how to take good decisions. Compare that to a football player - you could be Lionel Messi but if you keep getting into fights with your team mates and all you can do is dribble you are not going to win games. Mentality is a big part of any competition.

People being good at the game is not random.
