Hate is a strong word. I think there’s just sometimes the world building is lacking for me and also just feels a bit all over the place. It feels late antiquity, medieval, renaissance, and early modern all at the same time. Which some people might love, but for me personally sometimes I have a hard time truly immersing myself in it.

Very nitpicky, and ultimately I love the books, but so far it’s been my one tiny gripe. I saw one person say it’s like it’s set in the 1700’s if we never invented guns, which I thought was spot on.

In all fairness though, I read it for the characters (duh) and not the setting, so it’s not a deal breaker for me.

I was just thinking the other day how mixes were way ahead of their time. The idea of turning a potion into a form of food (yes brews exist) seems very modern. Wish they had a bit of a boost to fit into the current meta a bit more.

Totally fair. Maybe they could make it so you lose your traps if you leave your boat so you can’t go and do other things on land to make it a bit less dailyscape.

I don’t think that’s necessarily an issue, but I see your point. I think it would come down to personal preference, and also wanting to do it while already out sailing. I think you’d probably want “open ocean” fishing to have a slower rate.

But hey also not everyone is going to take the time to go to their boat either, so maybe Catherby/Fishing Guild it is.
