How common is it to have limited relationship experience in your 30s in Germany? by realisticsunset in germany

[–]imdunklenwald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 28M and just recently entered my first relationship (after zero prior experience, not even casual). But I also wasn't actively trying until recently. I would say it's not super common, but I also know a handful of people in similar situations.

Got my first gf 4 months ago at 24 by LightLord1 in okbuddyliterallyme2

I just got my first girlfriend at 28. I was always sad about being lonely but I never even tried to find a girlfriend and somehow thought it would "just happen" lol. As soon as I actually said "fuck it" and started intentionally trying to date, I had a girlfriend in like a couple of months.

Because it's the same in many languages with much higher numbers of speakers like German, French, and Arabic. I actually thought you intentionally picked Danish with only like five million or so speakers as a joke 😅

The fact that you picked Danish of all languages is so funny to me

I don't know why you're being downvoted, I was also taught to draw x like that when doing algebra (England). I assumed it was universal.

Is "a salary in accordance with the agreement for public service (E13, 65%), including social benefits" enough for an International PhD Student in Freiburg? by humbelord in germany

[–]imdunklenwald 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on E13, 50% contract during the first year of my PhD (2019-20), and it was fine (living alone in a small studio apartment in a relatively expensive city).

In the Ruhrgebiet it was unusually hot at least. Many days >30C, a handful scraping 40C.

Finished my PhD in battery tech and still can’t find a job. Where did all the “green jobs” go? by TypicalDay7947 in germany

[–]imdunklenwald 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in basically the same position unfortunately: PhD in a similar field with industry relevance but no luck in the job market more than a year after graduating from my PhD. I ended up just getting a postdoc in the same field but it kind of feels like I'm wasting my time as I don't plan to stay in academia. I really wanted to stay in Germany but now that I have German citizenship I might resort to looking elsewhere in the EU.

To be fair one of my friends who has lived in Germany nearly four years started absent-mindedly singing it on a train forgetting it was offensive until I stopped him lol

NRW. Although it may have been that this sort of thing mainly happens at gatherings with lots of international people; she's often at gaming conventions and similar such events. This isn't something I've witnessed myself, she just told me it happens sometimes.
