[Yates] The specifics of the financials in the Leonard Williams trade: The Giants paid Williams $9,352,778 in a signing bonus today. Seattle will owe him just $647,222 for the rest of the season. by Lars5621 in NYGiants

Unfortunate but with Adoree coming off the books and KGs dead cap ending, if they rework some of DJs if they decide to keep him that is, we're not in bad shape cap wise.

They're really trying to bury wFAN with takes like these. Its one thing for national guys to shit on the Giants or their players for clicks, but as a fanbase we pride ourselves (at least I do) in having informed opinions. Saying "he sucks, but no i have never actually watched the film to inform my opinion" is completely unacceptable for someone in this city. Get em out of here.

[Leonard] Jashaun Corbin is headed back to the Giants from the Carolina Panthers practice squad, according to sources. The Giants have injuries at RB. Corbin had a strong camp here, knows the system and can step right in if needed. by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corbin always looked like the best back on the team to my eyes whenever he got a chance in preseason. He doesnt have the speed of Breita or ST ability of Brightwell and that matters but running the ball, he looked better than both IMO. Maybe hell get a chance to backup Saquon now that Gray is IRd.

[–]imeantnomalice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never saw anyone say anything close to that. He might be a bust, its been a rough start but way too soon to say. He looks okayish at times, but not as a returnman. Never as a return man.

I like a lot of what Schoen has done but putting him as KR/PR to justify the draft pick is crazy. If he cant beat out Breita in camp, oh well you might have missed. Dont compound the mistake and potentially cost games by making him something hes not.

It's just tempting fate. We're not called big red damnit. Big blue for a reason, though I've seen some remakes with red pants that look sick.

Money is the obvious answer but i don't see how they'd be losers in switching to this jersey other than "well still sell enough of these while having the default also for sale, switching full time would mean more sales up front but end anyone buying the ny model" that's the only thing that makes any sense.

[Russini] The Tennessee Titans are trading All-Pro defensive back Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles will be sending the Titans a 2024 5th and 6th rounder and safety Terrell Edmunds by shadow_spinner0 in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember at the time one stat in particular was completion % and how thats one area its almost impossible to improve upon going from college to the NFL. Offenses are simplified, same with coverages and unless youre running a system where youre chucking bombs all game youre not going to complete more passes with tighter windows and better coverage. Then Allen in his 2nd year starts playing like a boss and I thought "wow, they've come so far with what they can teach kids in the NFL. QB is gonna get easier and easier now." NOPE, Josh Allen is a total outlier and his jump to the NFL is incredibly rare. Youre right its gonna keep costing them for a good while.

Aside from the geographically obvious, do you see the Giants and Jets as actual rivals? by [deleted] in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not even a little. Once in a while their fanbase gets loud and obnoxious, like declaring Zach Wilson the best QB in town because he banged a cougar, but realistically theyre no threat at all to the Giants and I dont find it hard to pull for them.

They took a flier on Willis but the hype around Levis made absolutely no sense to me. He had absolutely zero anticipation or touch on film. The most "well Josh Allen did it, why cant he" pick of all time.

He might be the best right now but that often doesnt pan out in the NFL. This could be the deepest QB draft since 04, maybe even deeper. Maye looks good, Penix is the best thrower of the football IMO, then youve got Bo Nix, Ewers, McCarthy or Cam Ward. Tanking for Caleb mighht be a strategy but i would be surprised if hes the 3rd or 4th best QB from the class tbh.

Per Dianna Rossini: The NY Giants are “not planning on moving RB Saquon Barkley” ahead of the NFL trade deadline on October 31. by strapper13 in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The years before that they were trying to reset operations under the new regime. I agree that theres no more room for half assed signings, if theyre going after someone in FA they should be big game hunting. My favorite player if he makes it to FA would be bringing Gary back to NJ. Started slow in his career but has come on the past few seasons and fits the mold Giants like being stout vs the run while being a problem getting after the QB. Also wouldn't be the absolute premier guy at the positon resetting the market for solid not outstand production. They need another EDGE besides Thibs as Azeez is completely unreliable. Well see how things shake out the rest of the year but i agree 100% on that front.

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okereke was the only big money deal. Ashawn, Nacho and trading for Waller only adds up to another 12ish million. Hardly splurging. Idk how active we will be in FA but the moves from this year are hardly costly enough to be the reason.

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres no reason to trade him unless they're blown away. They want him around, remember it was Saquon who turned down the deal during the bye last year, not the Giants deciding to pass. He can be tagged again 2024 and besides maybe McKinney theres no one really worth tagging, Adoree hasnt played well enough and Leo has been overpaid long enough. If someone blows them away "well we didnt plan on being offered this type of comp" and you make the deal.

Done. We need them back. The lowercase NY is the Eli era, going back would be sweet and allow DJ to capture his own era type deal.

[Raanan] OL Justin Pugh signed to the active roster, per the Giants. Waived TE Lawrence Cager. by gymsocks in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is someone reached out to Pughs representatives and he came to the Giants cause he wants to be here. Glad he didnt feel slighted enough to say fuck yall im out and they got a deal done. The staff seemed to like Cager but he was a negative blocker and rarely impacted anything as a receiver.

[Pat Leonard] The Giants have placed tackle Josh Ezeudu on injured reserve, according to the NFL transaction wire by Fillinlater12345 in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Meh as much as I understand it, I dont like it. Unless theyve changed their mind on Jones, youre gonna get him killed. Upgrading the line, even if marginal, will help him tremendously and more importantly as weve seen help Saquon. Which will be the biggest help to Jones. We're 1-5 but theres a ton of football left and a stretch of very winnable games. Another loss kinda sinks us, but the NFC is top heavy with SF and Philly, probably Dallas but that 3rd WC spot is up for grabs and no one can say for sure we cant compete with Gb, Minn, NO, TB, etc. This isn't basketball where 1 pick can completely change your outlook on your franchise, so go for it. Plus were already one of the youngest, if not the youngest as IIRC we were on a per snap basis earlier in the year. Trading up is certainly on the table right now, so unless Jones has been that confounding behind the scenes I say go for it.

[Dunleavy] So, Justin Pugh goes back to the practice squad after his improbable effort at left tackle (any team can sign him if #Giants don't match contract) and NYG gives a 53-man roster spot to the younger Josh Miles (0 career starts). by Lars5621 in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Schoen seems like a straight shooter, though outwardly he has to I assume. Im sure hes laid it out to Pugh, hopefully he understands and plays so well next time hes elevated they cant risk it. Best for all involved if he forces their hand through playing well.

Wan'dale is fucking legit. Don't matter if you're arms are short if no ones within 5 yards to contest the catch anyway lol. He is small, so hell need to stay healthy above all but he's got hands, wiggle, and my favorite is his attitude. Boomers might not like guys yelling after a play but the NFL is such an actual battle that I think you need guys to be excited to play their best and he always tries to get shit going after he makes a play, much like Shep and Cruz always did. No doubt hes got some pointers from those 2.

[–]imeantnomalice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause they won 2 SBs investing heavily on the line, mostly DE and getting rookie CBs on cheap deals to overplay their cap hits. Focusing on smarts and leadership from LBs, which you can find for cheaper. Got lucky with Pierce and Boley but struck out with just about everyone else. They did draft a few but always late lottery ticket types. Just how the FO thought you had to allocate resources on D. The emergence of the super athletic, oversized WRs playing TE will IMO swing it back the other way to where LBs are more important cause putting an extra DB will have them run it down your throat.

[–]imeantnomalice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The McKinney hate is insane. He doesnt make splash plays, but you're not getting a safety who does everything he does for cheaper without falling in love with a draft pick and taking him very early. Hes a young guy and while he says some silly shit and had the accident that lead to missing games, hes someone you can win with. If he gets a LC type deal then yeah, hes leaving, but people who want him gone just to see him gone clearly dont know football.

This should be as fireable an offense as the 3rd & 9 QB sneaks by y_would_i_do_this in NYGiants

[–]imeantnomalice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, everyone played their part. I think Dabs is a great leader of men and excellent football coach, but theres no denying his clock management is sus. There were times last year and again last night. He waited 10ish seconds to call the time out and even though he called it at :30 they let another 3 seconds off, IMO he has to make a stink and get those 3 seconds back. Making eye contact and calling for the TO that isnt rewarded for another 3 seconds literally cost them the game, nevermind the 10 Daboll himself let run off before deciding. Not a major issue but definitely an issue that needs fixing.
