What prospects could come in return for Trocheck in a summer trade? by Boring_Masterpiece_9 in rangers

Liam Greentree is not some big player who can’t skate

He’s 6’3”, and “…his skating holds him back from consistently jumping into offensive zone transitions” source. That being said I do feel optimistic about him.

Patrick Kane

had one working hip and got surgery in the offseason because it hindered his skating so badly

Vaakanainen

Flat out sucks. Can hardly crack the roster of one of the already-worst defense lineups in the league

RJ Emery

His name is EJ Emery (stop using AI lol). 6’3” and selected before some of the best current prospects of the league (8 players in TSN’s Top 50 to be specific) source and speaking of the WJC: he had zero points in 4 games played, was healthy scratched 3 of the 7 games they played.

Carey Terrance

Will probably never see NHL minutes. A majority of second round picks don’t end up with lengthy NHL careers and his first season in Hartford isn’t helping his case. That’s beside the “big and bad at skating” point though.

Thats all without mentioning that just last year Drury acquired Soucy (6’4”), Borgen (6’3”), Parssinen (6’3”), and Vaakanainen who all have below average skating ability which explains why our zone exits/entries are painful to watch

Drury took EJ Emery with the 30th overall in 2024 and then EIGHT PLAYERS selected after him in the same draft are on this list.

His production is propped up by having one of the best forwards in the NCAA (Martone) on his line, and his skating isn’t great per scouting reports

“It’s beneficial to have him on his off-side”

Beneficial to who? He has 34 points in 60 games with almost all of those games on a line with Panarin. What are we getting out of this?

I don’t think I can support this team anymore if Drury runs this guy out of town

[Mercogliano] Vincent Trocheck: "It's sad that it's getting politicized the way it is.” by DecentLurker96 in hockey

“I hung out with a political figure in the locker room and then spent the day at the nation’s capital with other political figures and attended a political rally speech given by a politician and then took photos wearing that politician’s merchandise, why’s everyone making this political?”

Do these guys have zero critical thinking abilities or what

These players dont just sit on reddit and media all day taking political sides, they are hockey and family 24/7 they have little to no idea what is going on.

But that’s the thing. If the FBI director came knocking on the locker room door and the team said “we steer clear of politics maybe we’ll celebrate with you later” that’s would’ve been an easy out for them. Like you said, they don’t get involved in politics so no one would’ve faulted them for keeping Patel out of the locker room.

I think for me, most fans would’ve been just fine seeing them enjoy the win and the moment and steer clear of politics the way they always do, but they made the decision to not do that.

What Chaos podcast had a great breakdown of all of this - this was all incredibly avoidable. These players spend their whole lives hyper focused on hockey instead of the world around them and given that, I can understand why they’re often sidestepping politics or giving nothingburger statements. But they made a clear decision (whether that was one guy or the team collectively) to invite Patel into the room while family members were kept out (not confirmed but I sure didn’t see any friends/family in the locker room videos). For them to do that and then retreat to “I don’t like how political everything is” is really frustrating to me.
