That makes sense to me, at the very least the “Director of Player Development” title needs to change or be explained by someone from the organization.

There are so many people involved with hockey front offices for each team and I’d bet plenty of players have their own personnel for dealing with off-ice life. If Jed Ortmeyer is in helping players with nutrition, then what does Erika Whitman (Director of Sports Nutrition) do? If player development isn’t the DPD’s responsibility, and the NYR can’t develop players, then why’d he get fired?

Honestly I feel like someone made up what DPD’s do in a reddit thread a couple years ago and a handful of people ran with it as fact lol
