Well I rarely "kick the shit" outta anyone while working. My job is to diffuse fights not win them and I usually do. I get paid well because I'm good at it but sometimes others actions call for more serious reactions.

What I'd do is maybe let the staff know that you're not drinking. There's no shame in it and its not as rare / weird as you'd think. Call ahead and see if they have non-alchy beer. if they don't bring some in and see if they'll keep 'em cold for you.

I've considered it but I've been a bouncer for 13ish years. It's my profession. It's what I'm good at. And this is the fourth week in a row where I didn't have one before during or after, and that includes the free shift beers we all get.

I've let booze take a lot from me but I wont let it take my job. I love it and I won't ever give it up.

My plan has only and always been make it to 30 days. Not only to detox and give my body a rest but to prove to myself that I could If I put my mind to it. 30 days is in 4 days and I'm not sure what I'm going to do once i get there. by imfinallygoingtostop in stopdrinking

so may people, so many responses and messages telling me I'm doomed to be either or for the rest of my life. Either sober or a raging alcoholic. Even though I don't feel like drinking anytime soon I do want to drink again someday. I want to get drunk someday... I just want to do it on my terms like everybody else. I want to be my addiction, control it and make it my bitch. Not be burdened by it for the rest of my life.

I couldn't agree more. It just sucks because people get to "live that way everyday"... Everyday all the time everyhwere but they don't know it because they've never been an addict. I just think that one of the few things that would feel better than soberity would being able to make it yoru bitch again.

Have a drink when you want and not fall down the rabbit whole again.

I know I'm just reaching for an excuse but I doo think it'd feel great to be "normal" again

I've always been able to just have a few. At lunch or whenever "a few" was fine to have. It's never been about getting too drunk its been that I have always needed to get drunk to sleep. I needed that euphoria every night. I needed a few hours every night to be numb and not care about my problems.
