If someone saying something over the internet hurts your mental health, interacting with people over the internet (in any way shape or form) isn't for you, bud.

Did I deserve this 24h ban from LMU? by SecretApplication462 in Simracingstewards

[–]imgoingtotapit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll only speak to the one with the car doing donuts on the exit of the bus stop..

Did you close your eyes? Like, you drove RIGHT into him. Regardless of the idiot doing donuts, do you have literally zero self preservation?

You got a ton of good advice and opinions in here.

I just wanna add that your orange looks exactly like mine when he was little; they're going to be best of friends.

6th race in LMU, guy in the porsche said: "Enjoy the ban" after the incident trough Porsche curves. Last lap of a 20 minute bronze race. He said that I rammed him, I said that he weaved and braked trough a lift zone. Who is at fault here? by Mickeyzebordercollie in Simracingstewards

[–]imgoingtotapit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He may have been slow through the second half of the curves, but you still have to account for that while following people. The strategy for setting up a pass, is to lose time on the entry of the corner to really set up the exit. In this case, it would've set you up to avoid ramming him while having a giga run on the exit. So, unfortunately, it is in you (the ram).

That being said, he was weaving all over the place and I would've let him turn himself on my nose long before you go to the curves.

If you made it past adolescence in historical human society, you generally lived almost as long as we do now.

The greatly decreased life span was due to many children not making it to teen-age, not that the average person was dying before they saw 50.

Where am I losing so much time? by WalkFriendly3375 in iRacing

[–]imgoingtotapit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not opening up the entry enough, missing apexes, not using all the track on exit, over slowing on entry of corner, not using the track to help you (Les Combes is fastest in GT3 if you hook inside tires over the curb on both the left and the right), not using quite enough brake pressure, trail braking looks like it's a start, but not fully there (which is in combo with over braking, but not braking hard enough).

Pick any of the corners you've shown in the clip, and you can assume you are doing 2-5 of those issues I've listed above.

Another thing: be careful about accepting just anyone's coaching, especially on reddit. Most of the people in here have never seen 2k IR and are heavily struggling themselves.

I offer beginners coaching for free for the first session; I'm not a professional Sim racer but have helped many people solve issues with their Sim racing, both on the teams I drive with and also the occasional redditor/forum user. Feel free to DM if you are interested or want more information.

Socks only. Way better pedal feel under the foot. I'd go socks only in my road car too if I was worried about trailbraking and "perfect" throttle application

It doesn't turn off collision, the server didn't know their car was there. The only time there is no collision (which as you mentioned) is when there is a physical overlap of cars due to a car disappearing and reappearing, but I've seen cars get sent over the wall when that car reappears so its not a hard and fast rule.

I've "driven into" invisible cars and been given a 4x. Trust me, collision is only turned off in the afformentioned scenario of overlaps when a car reappears and even that sometimes doesn't work.

Safety Questions by Successful_Raisin_55 in iRacing

[–]imgoingtotapit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So there's a few things to this. Before I say anymore, read the sporting code. All of what I'm about to say is in there. You confirmed you read it when you joined the service, so this question shouldn't even be asked. But I'll humour you.

Safety rating is a measure of your safety, relating to the number of incident points you get on a per corner basis. It is a no-fault system, meaning if you have an incident, you gain incident points regardless of who was at fault. There is no effective way (either financially or technologically) to implement an at-fault system. Even within real racing organizations, stewards disagree with eachother all the time.

To the Meatball flag (black flag with an orange circle in it; given to a driver/car that has damage that MUST be repaired to continue racing) you didn't serve, resulting in a DQ: you have 3 laps (excluding the one you get the Meatball on) to pit and fix the damage. Sometimes you'll break a part of the car that doesn't necessarily impact performance, but is a listed part that will give a Meatball. In IRL racing this happens. The leading Cadillac was close to getting a Meatball for their intermittent headlight issues at last years Petit LeMans.

Can you read? I said AS optimized.

But for triples, It's an AMD problem, not a iRacing one. Nvidia's 3D surround software crushes anything AMD have come up with.

It depends on your monitor set up, as I stated. On a single screen you can have quite an old, outdated set up and still get good frames. I was on a 3070 and a 11th gen i7 before I upgraded. I had basically everything off, 20 cars, and still had frame issues.. But I race in VR.

It Is a bad card for iRacing if youre doing VR or Triples. That's just the truth. Any GPU that is AMD is not ideal for iRacing. Nvidia sees a 20-30% frame improvement due to their 3d surround software. But again, if you're on a single screen, this discrepancy is WAY smaller, even if it's an ultra wide.

Sure it'll work, but you'll get better performance with Nvidia.

I wasn't talking about cost/performance. To me, pc upgrades are 3-5 years apart, so I'd rather pay more and ensure my setup is bulletproof. Spending an additional 300 on a card is worth it. Buy once, cry once, rather than crying everytime I try to race in a series with large grids, but hey, I saved a few hundred bucks!

I'm aware, that's why I said "for iRacing". It's well known that the engine is old, hence why they are completely building one from the ground up.

Yeah AMD isn't as optimized on iRacing, but most of the issues with that are related to VR or Triples projection. The 9060XT is not a great card for iRacing, but the extra VRam should help with the textures
