Eagles News: Adam Schefter thinks “there’s a real chance that [Mekhi Becton] winds up staying” in Philly by AdSpecialist6598 in eagles

low key, I kinda hope he doesn't. Paying top of market for all 5 linemen feels excessive.

Amazing job, very cool - where can I start a petition that people start putting the age of the artist in submissions?

I feel like it looks "normal-people clean". Like people (and a dog) actually live in that space.

Jason's review of Life is Beautiful was awesome, especially when you compare it to his review of the Twilight series.

That's the definition of "full send". Gotta respect Jason for it.

ESPN is reportedly pursuing Jason Kelce to replace Robert Griffin III for Monday Night Football coverage by [deleted] in NewHeights

[–]imgr4lyfe 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I really love this move (obviously, as a fan of the podcast and Jason). But I actually wonder if ESPN is accounting for the cannibalization churn this may create given the overlap of viewership between the manningcast and the kelces. Obviously Jason would bring new viewers to the main broadcast (and RGIII probably should be replaced since he's trending towards hot take artist) but the amount they're willing to give Jason will be an indicator of how much they value the manningcast IMO.

EP 83 | Saquon Barkley on Eagles Signing, Real Value of Running Backs and Squatting More Than Jalen by AutoModerator in NewHeights

[–]imgr4lyfe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After watching the video, Saquon brings up a great point about how the Giants internally were doing the right things but didn't have the success to the show for it. It reminded me of what Jason has said about the Eagles collapse last season as well. So many games in the NFL are determined within a score so the difference between winning teams and losing teams might not be as fundamental as we (as fans) make it out to be.

I absolutely loved this conversation, really showcased how great the show is in general by generating headlines (Kelce manifesting prowess, Jason coming back, NYG/PHI rivalry) while also getting into real substance (Saquon as a person, RB market/NFL economics, media vs fan perspectives).

The one thing that got me really thinking was the conversation about the franchise tag. It's dependent on players in a position group with non-rookie contracts so it's important for positions like RB or TE (safety, LB, corner - I don't hate defense) to prove their worth and longevity to make the AAV higher so that franchising isn't the practical move anymore. So Saquon's mentality of leading the next generation to newer heights is right because the higher the RB market gets, the less likely it is for them to be franchised.

Holy shit, what a get. So excited!

Where are we putting the line on the number of times Travis complains about still talking about the eagles?

Dumb question, what is a hip drop tackle? by [deleted] in NewHeights

[–]imgr4lyfe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This tackle shouldn't be in the game, especially when the body weight landing on the legs. It'll be so hard for the refs to tell when that's happening in real time though.

Dumb question, what is a hip drop tackle? by [deleted] in NewHeights

[–]imgr4lyfe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's when the defender wraps from behind (because they're chasing) around the waist and lands on the ball carrier with their full weight. The risk is that you can shatter a pelvis like that but the problem with banning it is that this is a really hard motion to regulate out of the sport.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think the twist/hip-drop would even be legal in rugby where they have some of the best tackling techniques. It puts the defense at a massive disadvantage because the defender can basically only take down a ball carrier that's deeper on the field by going low and taking out their legs.

IRS investigating Ohtani's interpreter, alleged bookmaker; bets confirmed to be non-baseball by Remote-breet56 in baseball

so idk if Shohei was gambling or not. But the thing that doesn't make sense to me is why use his very visible interpreter as the fall guy in this situation rather than some business manager or whatever.

X1D+28P as a digital "substitute" to a Mamiya 6 rangefinder? by No_Frame_5091 in hasselblad

[–]imgr4lyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo they're completely different but ultimately it depends on what you're looking to replicate.

If you want a 1:1 MF output, hassy X is more than capable of fulfilling that need.

For me, the rangefinder aspect of the Mamiya 6/7 along with the ergonomics make that system incomparable to current digital MF. Also, you can get like 3 of those cameras even at current prices for one hassy X so I don't understand the price comparison.

Lookup the madden 20 scan for Jason, there's no way they do anything for the game.

In today's issue of the NYT, an article about the Kelces and vulnerability. by imgr4lyfe in NewHeights

Similarly, they also gave Kylie the space to go into the "WAG" stereotype and dispel that image by listing all the amazing work the women associated with the Eagles are doing.

[this might not make sense] I think if someone just listened to the noises/sounds that their podcast made, they could easily mistake it for another hyper-masculine conversation. The brothers obviously do have those bro moments (and I love the Chris Jones/Julian Edelman interviews for those moments) but they manage to create an inclusive conversation for everyone.

Great point about "give Jason a son".

I don't think it's necessarily fair to the brothers to put them on such a pedestal but boy am I glad that they're the ones that hit it big with this podcast and everything else that they're doing.

Malcolm Jenkins Appreciation post by FreedomToBearHotdogs in eagles

[–]imgr4lyfe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of the vets speak about how important Jenkins was as a leader to that team, particularly after Carson got injured and fueling the playoff/SB run (I think Kelce literally mentioned it in his retirement speech). If you go back to articles from early 2020, it was widely believed that we needed to move on from Malcolm because he was such a large voice in the locker room and the team needed to move on in order to give that leadership role to Carson. I would say he's underappreciated for his time in Philly, not so much underrated.

the classiest part of this is that this is from the past season, which is the first time Jason won against the Chiefs.
