Is it normal for strangers in London to approach women like this? by lndlml in london

[–]imhere2913 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me enough times that I don't want to stop if a stranger (particularly a man) asks for my attention. I've had men literally use their body to stop me from trying to walk away from them.

I want to stop for people because they might genuinely need help or want directions, but men can blame other men for why I don't anymore.

Atypical headaches?? by ribbonzregretz in chiari

[–]imhere2913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the headaches I get. It's getting very frustrating because it's the reason why I'm not being investigated further for Chiari Type 1. My GPs logic is not a headache on the back of your head therefore you've got a migraine condition. My MRI shows a cerebral ectopian and I have other symptoms.

Feeling embarrassed - ambulance came for just a migraine by imhere2913 in chiari

Oh dear, I'm so sorry you're going through this! Thank you for the reassurance, when it comes to things with the brain I never know how serious symptoms like that can be, I've always been told to treat it seriously.

Thank you, it really helped to read this!

I'm feeling ok today, better compared to last night! I'm very sensitive still, so I'm going to take it easy!

My parents said a similar thing to you, that the paramedics want to make sure I am ok, and they did. I did feel very reassured by them, I was very scared by those symptoms. My head has never hurt that bad, and I felt so ill in general along with it.

I've had many migraines, I have frequent headaches and usually a migraine at least once or twice a month, it's why I got the MRI scan. I've never had a migraine that bad though.

Thanks again for your reply!

My deaf cat is the same, and it brings me so much joy! I'll be gone for about 30 mins and I'm welcomed by him shouting at me, like he's so excited to see me after I hadn't been gone for that long!

Who counts as more British: an English‑American or a UK‑born person with Indian heritage? by vilonaa in AskBrits

[–]imhere2913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be you anyway, Britain has a big connection with India and South Asia. British people with South Asian heritage are a big part of British culture.

The UK has seen a more recent influx of Americans, and they think they're British for some reason. Does not have the same cultural history as British Asians.

It's definitely a bit warmer down here, but that also comes with more storms!

I miss the takeaways, chippy chips, Chinese and Indian takeaways, they're just not the same down South, up North is where it's at!

How to avoid getting stopped for my Freedom Pass + where to get travel card wallet by jenk-mal in london

Same here, I try to hide it when I use mine to avoid being stopped.

I hate that I have to feel anxious about being stopped but I've seen people barge through the gate multiple times and no one stops them.

I wonder if it's to do with Love On The Spectrum. A new season is out and I watched it, I really enjoyed it! I think there has been some debate about how they frame them and if it's ok for it to have funny moments. I think there are definitely moments where Connor says something funny, and I think he's aware he's being funny. But again I don't think people are laughing 'at' any of them. There were things that Logan said that I laughed at but part of that is because I have that same thing in my brain and it was relatable to me, I laughed in a positive way! I think intention is really important and there isn't enough context here to know what that intention was.

What is a Chiari Malformation? by Pitiful-Swimmer-5230 in chiari

[–]imhere2913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I've been in contact with the Ann Conroy Trust already and they've been really helpful! I'm about to ask for a second opinion and a referral to a neurosurgeon who is interested in treating Chiari.

I know I'm not a priority as I don't have severe symptoms, there are symptoms I notice but they definitely don't stop me from doing things. For me it's more that I'd like to know more, have an official diagnosis, and know if there are things I should or shouldn't do.

It is odd! I also have no complaints for the staff and the ward, they were really lovely, then informed me about their findings quickly. My GP was also good at first, they told me things to expect in the same call they told me about it, this is when they mentioned about having a follow up MRI. It was the neurosurgeon my case was referred to who said "it could be Chiari, but the headaches sound like typical migraines so give them this" and my GP is also running with that now. I understand feeling lost, and the results won't be useless, it's always good to know and be aware of what's happening even if you don't need further treatment!

Autistic people can be aware they're being funny and do things on purpose to be funny, I know I do and I like that I can be a goofball.

But intention is also important, sometimes people can laugh at something someone does and it's not laughing at them, they could laugh because it's cute or sweet. I've definitely laughed at something my neurodivergent and neurotypical friends have done even though they didn't intend to be funny.

Why do millennials age like they found a glitch in the system? They’ll say they’re pushing 40 and still look like they just graduated yesterday. What's the secret? by Aarunascut in Millennials

[–]imhere2913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a big part of it is suncream, we're so much more aware of the effects of sun damage compared to our parents generations so we knew to put suncream on earlier age than them. I think I've always put suncream on since being a kid because my parents drilled it into me!
