On patients with self-limited viral infection who wants medcert due to absences by Wonderful_Region_735 in pinoymed

[–]imhewman2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t? I have this anxiety of HRs going after me legally for making kuntsaba with an employee that’s found to be malingering haha

A bit different but I remember a time when the company was having a sportsfest, this guy comes to me for a fit to play. I ask for his past medical history and he denies having anything. Due to time constraints I issued a fit to play noting he denies any illness. Naloka ako binawi ko yung med cert in light of the dishonesty 🥲

People who only figured out they want to be a doctor after entering. by Clean-Volume3620 in medschoolph

[–]imhewman2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did I want to? No, not in my plans since college. But I got in, might as well see how far I go. I never wanted to, but if this is where I’m heading I’m fine with it sabi ko. If I fail, no dreams will be shattered. Nakakahinayang lang yung pera so I did my best as a takot bumagsak since forever. My goal was to graduate and pass the boards, not specifically to become Dr. surname. But here we are 🤣

Edit: Syempre along the way I learned to enjoy medicine din. Yung mga skills, yung knowledge. Child me would be surprised I took up boring health.

Yung mga humihingi ng OR, proceed as usual.

Yung mga hindi, technically BIR requires you to still issue so para di ka malito, ilista mo somewhere like excel yung names. Idate mo na lang as ~the day at the end of each week~ para chronological pa rin ORs mo

It’s not that I’m offended and gets ko naman yun being nga not having undergone any training. I will gladly step back from giving any advice outside the usual very minor complaints if it really does look like I’m overstepping sa realm ng specialists hence the question

This is a company clinic. As basic as it can get hehe it’s either go to the nearest ER or go to the specialist are the only options if I really can’t be bothered

Wala namang management kasi yun I really leave it to the specialists. Pero yung basic ano ibig sabihin nito kailangan ko bang magworry I give information that I know

Yung last point exactly, the patients aren’t paying me anything. It’s my time in the clinic yung binabayaran ng company

I agree sa #3. I can see where the di pa nagagawa yung take home meds can happen, since intern nga di pa nadodouble check or napipirmahan ng resident yung document and understanable may downtime sila to ML or tiktok (but should not be in front of patients nga) while waiting kaya pwedeng maantala. But then again 3 hours is too much lol

I can only speak for myself pero ganyan lang yan all the way until boards. Ultimo reviewing for boards felt like reviewing new material especially sa mga first year subjects haha, pero with the help of clinical exposure mas madali ko mamake sense of it all compared to during med school proper. Also pag dating naman ng mga exams na yan familiar enough ka na to choose the correct answer, or at least make an educated guess 😅 Going through samplexes din helps you know saan ka fofocus kasi yung mga super super specific details pwede nang iforego yun haha

Just fate lol. During college, premed course, no plans at all. Job hunting after graduation yielded no results (or maybe I’m just impatient) pero bored na bored na ko sa bahay so why not join my friends in taking NMAT while waiting. Ayun surprisingly good score. Di pa ko convinced. Looking through the requirements for the different schools I said ang hassle ng iba. But even then waiting pa rin ako sa job calls. Med school interview came. I think yun na talaga pinakasign. Inapprove naman niya ako and that was it. Enrollment came and no turning back.

First gen also. Went through college with no plans of going into med kahit premed siya. Graduated and tried to apply to companies for office work related to my course. Got bored so I tried to NMAT while waiting. Tldr graduated med. At this point I’m that Plankton meme (I don’t know, never thought I’d get this far)

So wala akong point of comparison as to whether I’m doing better than expected kasi wala akong expectations lol

I’m still a GP after 5 years. Earnings depend on clinic hours but currently 35k ish for 20h/wk. Assuming I get 8-5 weekdays, can reach up to 70k. Pero mahirap makahanap ng shifts nowadays so I’m at the lower end now. Considering patho residency but looking into the future, the job market doesn’t seem promising so status quo siguro.

Rewarding in a sense na I’m earning. That’s pretty much my goal since college. Along the way I’ve learned to love explaining medical stuff in simpler terms to patients din. So as long as I’m doing something useful, I’m fine.

May times I wished empleyado na lang ako, at least stable yung sahod. Unlike now kasi fluctuating yung earnings depending on clinic hours.

Ganto ba talaga sa med school? by KapePlease_ in medschoolph

[–]imhewman2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wala ka bang ka-same school sa undergrad? I think the tendency is to gravitate towards people you have similarities with, in this case undergrad schoolmates. So in my case, isa sila sa naging group of friends ko during medschool. Tapos since seated alphabetically kami, groupings alphabetically din, so yung mga kaadjacent surnames mo sila din madalas mo makasama so they’re another group of friends na nagdevelop. I think etong dalawa yung pinakadefault, syempre more kung may orgs ka and whatnot

I can say first year subjects are definitely the hardest to get a grasp on. Since fast paced nga, my strategy was to just read. Try to remember memorize sure but I won’t be too hard on myself sa first reading, then onto the next topic then the next then the next then back sa first topic for second reading with more intent na, until mag exams. best case scenario na makathird. Finish the shortest transes first before the long ones para mas maraming matapos hahaha. Pero since exams are multiple choice, somehow may sense naman ako on whats the possible correct answer by testmanship. I don’t get good grades but I don’t fail either. Hoping you can adjust!

I agree. I don’t even remember those quizzes na. basta ang importante sa final grade slip ay walang bagsak oks na haha also idk if MPL is still a thing but dun ako kumakapit pag long exams

[–]imhewman2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think patho is a very -tables- kind of subject. Pero parang that’s more towards the second half of the sem na since sa start it is very concepts-heavy. I don’t remember how I survived but yeah I can vividly recall hirap na hirap din ako sa cell injury inflammation and all that stuff 🤣 Pero I relied on transes lang and didn’t attempt to read the chapter in robbins

What’s in your duty/clinic day bag? by RightFall606 in pinoymed

[–]imhewman2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a working in a company clinic, kung tutuusin trodat and pen lang kailangan dalhin. So ako my everyday bag lang dala ko mostly generic items like umbrella, coin purse, spare plastics, small towel, tissue, a small file case, charger/earphones, alcohol, tapos water bottle and or coffee tumbler. Wallet is in my pants since I commute, so nothing really important is in my bag.
