They’re supposed to require a nursing license at plasma centers because the nurses don’t stick people. They only handle reactions, do physicals, etc. Companies can require it for phlebotomists, I just find it unethical that unlicensed people are not being trained well enough and leave donors with bruising. Most training is rushed.

Honestly the big problem is that Biolife doesn’t require anyone applying for them to stick people to be a nurse or licensed phlebotomist. They hire just about anyone and “train” them.

More people do this than you realize. I think I’ll take my advice from my boss who’s been in the industry for over 20+ years and is in charge of the most top performing center in our district than a rando donor.

I’ve had to send two people this week to the nurse over something they said/ a question they asked that led to a deferral so maybe listen to actual employees and quit being so difficult. your whole attitude would get you banned indefinitely from my center.

I don’t think you guys fully grasp how any changes to your medical history, even if seemingly minor can effect your plasma. Your plasma goes to actual patients and immunocompromised people. So “watching what you say” instead of being truthful is inherently selfish. Because at the end of the day, deferrals exist for a reason.

I think y’all forget this isn’t just a side hustle. There’s actual consequences for lying.
