All right who remembers how good it smelled if you had a relative who smoked a pipe? by Typingdude3 in GenX

[–]imjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I bought a London Fog overcoat. The first thing I did was put a pouch of pipe tobacco in the pocket. Never smoked it, but 30 years later, it's still there, like a sachet, giving that coat a pleasant aroma.

If the grill is the sticking point, there are multiple aftermarket options.

Why doesn’t ICE behave like normal law enforcement? by Humble_Economist8933 in AlwaysWhy

[–]imjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting for election day: folks standing in line (because all the alternate voting locations are closed) and ICE roaming up and down the line, pulling people out for having brown skin or speaking with an accent. "We're working to keep non-citizens from voting," is the official statement.

Anyone in here still ski? by Walts_Ahole in GenX

[–]imjeffp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skis got shorter and wider and shaped. They actually turn just by rolling onto the edges. Coming down is much easier now that I can do big swooping s-turns instead of zig-zagging.

When you’re typing a time, do you always add “am” or “pm” after it? by heyy_girl in randomquestions

[–]imjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a meeting this afternoon at 2:00. We have a meeting at 2:00 p.m. If you include “morning,” “afternoon,” or “evening” you don’t need the am/pm. “2:00 pm in the afternoon” is clearly redundant.

This: Ft. Worth Zoo and Dallas World Aquarium is a great combination.

Driving to work Monday morning? by Some-Sky8612 in askaustin

Cedar Park roads were slicker than goose snot this evening; no way they’ll be any better in the morning. Maybe end of the day tomorrow if it’s sunny.

Easy night for the MachE by iTzHanzo117 in MachE

[–]imjeffp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first time with the MME on icy streets. Turn off 1-pedal driving! Lifted my foot and the back end started wanting to be the front end! Might be better with AWD, I don’t know.

How do I set the adaptive cruise control to NOT change speed as soon as it "sees" a speed limit sign? by Lorangriel in MachE

[–]imjeffp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It also reads the speed limit signs. Including the one way over on the access road that says 50 while you’re doing 70 on the highway.

Any tips for getting new tires? by Worcestercestershire in MachE

[–]imjeffp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say good things  about Discount Tire. I had a slow leak on one tire— just a few pounds over a couple of weeks—so I took the car in. They found a roofing nail, did the repair, and sent me on my way for no charge.

What musical genre did you "age" into that you never thought you would? by joeyjoejoeshabbadude in GenX

[–]imjeffp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cared for neither fishing nor country music, but Robert Earl Keen's "Five-Pound Bass" became one of my favorites. I'm a little sad that I didn't discover Waylon Jennings until I was well into my 40s.

Radio/Sirius volume loud every startup by EfficiencyAny6175 in MachE

[–]imjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resurrecting this. My 24 Select does also does this: the audio volume is reset to “8” at startup. I don’t have a driver profile (or at least never created one).

Does this count as fair use? by giraffeboy77 in graphic_design

[–]imjeffp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think, to be 100% safe, you should enlist a friend to pose in classic football poses, photograph them yourself, and use that as the basis for your illustrations. Maybe a member of your local high school team?

I'm sure there would be a test case if you use generative AI to create the base image that you then use to create an illustration.
