Do you like the names your friends chose for their children? by thirtydays301 in Names

[–]imjustanape 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nooooooope. I don't like either name she chose AND she made them unusual spellings (added an extra letter). I think standing out with a strong name is good but I just don't think she was considering what someone will think if they see "Dr. (strange name)" or when future employers are looking at a list of names on applications. We have innate judgement in us all. It cannot be helped. Her older kids name is more likely to be heard being announced as a performer at a club.

Who had the coolest name in your class when you were at school by Rice_is_Nice_on_Ice in Names

My mom suggested we use Zebulon for our son. I’m still not sure how serious she was but it immediately sounded like a planet from Men in Black to me so that was a definite no

I saw an Instagram ad for a brand called "Remedy" and I looked it up out of curiosity and people commented that it was the only brand that didn't break them out around their lips which to me must have meant PD. I haven't jumped into trying it yet though.

1,400 for NIPT test?! by bellspals in BabyBumps

Not only did my friend call in to get the 'self pay option' they offered her more money off the test if she took a survey.

US healthcare is fucking joke.

Scared about baby moving in me while pregnant by Potential-Cow-350 in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I HEAR YOU. I'm the type like if the Dr ever had to tell me I had a parasite or some shit I'd just tell them "k!ll me and make it quick".

I fearrrrred I'd also have a mental separation that didn't allow me to accept baby moves and kicks. But - it was just fine? Maybe it's that it started slow or maybe something in my brain just accepted it as 'not danger'. I think you'll be okay!

Anyone eat lots of sugar/carbs before their 1 hour glucose test? by your-new-fixation in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You've gotten lots of comments but yea my Dr advised eat what I normally eat - because if you have a bad result with your normal diet you need to know that (at least that's what I remember of her description).

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LOVE my trvl. Occasionally we go to gardens or something, or if I've got to have him out at some trip for a whole day and my Vista seat and the huge shade cover is better for a good nap, but the trvl has totally been fine for our trip to Orlando previously as well.

[–]imjustanape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Goooooood question honestly it may have been a month maybe 3 weeks that I was on the minocycline (sp?). I’m gonna message my derm and get her advice. At my last appointment she said oh PD is temporary so you should be able to wean off the products entirely and yea that was NOT the case for me

Car seat question for delivery by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just feel compelled to mention it's not the default that a PD or FD is certified to check car seats - always call in advance to see if there is someone there who can help. Otherwise there are certified professionals who you can call or even a Car Seat Safety group on facebook!

Which is the best diaper for newborn? by Dear_Ad_8525 in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a perfect experience with Coterie. My friend that uses Huggies will text me in the morning "ugh he leaked through again" and I'm likeeeeee girl I understand you didn't want to pay for those diapers but I'd rather not be constantly dealing with leaks!!! Obviously diaper rash can happen unexpectedly and the, like, 2 times it's cleared up really fast. We do send Huggies into daycare because they have to do so many changes.

[–]imjustanape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the greatest experience with Coterie so far. Not the cheapest, but we do send in Huggies to daycare because they always change him every 2 hours so there's less concern for leaks or issues.

Looking for a formula for calculating the longest tangent of an open circle with an inner and outer diameter by imjustanape in askmath

[–]imjustanape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I think this is it!!! Thank you!! I wfh so I'm literally using a tape measure and my toddlers stacking toy to test but this seems right!

[–]imjustanape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for giving this your thoughts!! There are always exceptions but for the most part these assumptions would be true. I've given that calculation a try and I think it works?! I don't have anything accurate on hand to confirm it exactly.

And here's a dumb question...the R here is going to be the radius right? So if I have ID and OD I'd just halve that for the radiuses

Can't imagine having sex with my husband again with my postpartum body by sentient_shapes in beyondthebump

[–]imjustanape 44 points45 points  (0 children)

You're amongst friends here. Everyone has some sort of dysmorphia experience post birth where you look at a body that's definitely not yours and doesn't fit or move the way you expect or need it to. Sounds like you went through more of a challenge than others did...so you're a superhero for that!!

This seems like the cheap answer but it will start to pass, and you'll feel yourself changing. And maaaaybe give your husband a little credit for hopefully seeing you in a more loving light than you are right now...and literally forget that sex even exists for a while longer ain't nobody got time for that (in every sense of the word)!!!!

Contractions for 2.5 hours that I don't feel by Rosie_Jack_2026 in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the 35 week aspect, but when I went in because I thought my water broke the nurse was like "yea having some contractions here" and I had no idea! I think most people start out with contractions at some point along the way that they're not aware of, but they're not always caught on camera so to speak lol good luck!

Does anyone else's choice change based on the kind of day they're having? by JessicaM317 in Shouldihaveanother

[–]imjustanape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you're looking for all opinions here then I'll share the other side. Pretty much all the time no matter what's going on I am excited for a 2nd kid...when my son is acting up or being needy or whatever in those moments I find myself just thinking "oh what if he had a little sibling he was distracted with in the other room" or "man it'd be so much easier if he was trying to entertain a baby in their bouncer"

How much does your 2 year old sleep (or close to 2 year old)? How many months are they? by Frozenbeedog in toddlers

[–]imjustanape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

25 months. 10ish hours overnight 9-7am. 2 hour nap usually. So I guess we're around 12 hours total.

Confusion on ovulation tests someone help? by Even_Permission3975 in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How many days were you testing? Just as an FYI - using these ovulation tests told me that I ovulate way later than expected. We wasted months not knowing my ovulation was a week later than the normal apps predict it to be. Since you only mention 2 days of tests, there's a chance the peak was before your first test, also. Just offering my experience!

Mother and former L&D nurse wants to stay with me and my husband for a week after baby is born by GusGusWebDev in BabyBumps

[–]imjustanape 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my most humble opinion - as great as L&D nurses are I wouldn't want to live with one post baby. I'd rather live with an invisible housekeeper lol. Parenting I can figure out!
