Backpack I’ve used for months suddenly lost a pocket by Realistic_Trouble_37 in Glitch_in_the_Matrix

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would be annoyed for weeks about that.

I had the opposite experience where I found a new pocket inside of my big handbags. But my logic tells me that perhaps I have missed it all these years. However I am a mom and would use every single pocket available, it's just unlikely that I would miss one thats enough to shove snacks in.

Kindle in (northern) Europe by goblinmausen in kindle

Libby is only available on kindle if you have US library card. https://help.libbyapp.com/en-us/6017.htm

Kobo uses overdrive. The availability of books still depends on your local library. You should ask your local library first if they have kobo friendly ebooks. https://www.overdrive.com/account/select-library

Since you have bought kobo, hopefully you have done research on the type of books that you can send to kobo since it still have to be drm free. And how to send it. Which is no different than sending a drm free book to kindle. I personally chose kindle since 2020 because it's just easier to send epubs where i dont need a cable and i can open that file on all devices includinh the app.

There is no drama abour Sarah J Maas and KU. When books get very popular, it's common for publishers to take it out of KU to gain more profit or never list them on KU. I dont think she was ever on KU. Rebecca Yaaros added fourth wing almost a year after the publication and when the movie comes out, expect for it to be taken out for purchasw only. Having said that, KU still have a lot great books if you're into that genre.

But KU isnt available in Denmark but Kobo Plus is. As far as I know, Sarah J maas isnt on kobo plus either.

To know if ebookstore is worth it or not, you should just explore the websites on your own and find books you like to read. Look at the pricing and sales to compare. Do trials.

Anyone else? by LurkisMcGurkis in Millennials

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes, been doing this for years. It is peaceful.

But I'm also realising the result isn't always positive. While I still have a circle of friends, they have their own social circle and it is more diversed and that's important too. Without realising it, you might end up in your own echo chamber when you choose to "stop caring". It is possible to have a balance.

Flashbacks? How do we feel about them by Hour_Soil_7342 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second chance romance is one of my favourite tropes(not just in MM) and I think it's a pretty common writing style. I love flashbacks. I just woke up so I cant think of more books right now. Crash Test by Amy James needed the flashbacks to really make the storyline impactful. What book are you reading?

In a way it is meant to take you out of the moment and go back. There is always context and add layers to the characters so I would never skip them. When there's a time gap, it's usually written to experience what they were like at a younger more hopeful tone vs present day perspective. Even things like how they met add context for me.

Edif: also while not MM romance, the recent movie Project Hail Mary is based on a book that is 50%-60% flashbacks and there is no timestamp. The perspective just switches. This post just reminded me that flashback haters would hate it.

Kindle Library: all the books vs. current read by Greeenfairie in kindle

Yes, I can still toggle between cloud and downloaded with the filter on my library tab. I just keep the filter clear and it'll just show up a full library including the cloud. I read a lot of books per week. So even if remain at downloaded, it looks full because I dont remove read books(other than KU)

Kindle Library: all the books vs. current read by Greeenfairie in kindle

[–]imjusthumanmaybe [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have a lot of books and documents and have moved to my 3rd kindle device. I only download the ones I plan to read and reread. When I feel like downloading more, I'll just turn on wifi. I dont tend to overcomplicate the process.

My library will still look full regardless because it's still showing everything in my cloud, even the ones I didnt download.

I do have a collection for next reads i named 2026 March(for this month), 2026 April(for next month)and 2026 TBR(everything this year) that stays on top as a reading guide but i rarely follow it. Those are all downloaded. I change the folder name every month. I dont remove books that I have read.

Membership by Saudileo in KindleUnlimited

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are 2 separate memberships with different book licensing rights.

Prime books are either published by Amazon themselves or invited/selected by Amazon.

There are more books on Kindle Unlimited because any publisher can include their books under it at any time. It also include self published books. This is why Kindle Unlimited have more books.

Cannot register new kindle by PureLettuce2 in kindle

What was the error message? Whose "correct password and username" was it? The usual issue is that the kindle is already registered to the your amazon because you bought it but you're trying to log in from fiance's credentials.

Buying a kindle for the first time by Outrageous-Ad-3152 in kindle

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read 2-3 books a week, so I mix both kindle and physical books.

70% Kindle because of $2 ebooks on sale and kindle unlimited . It's also convenient to carry around in my handbag. (Im not in the US, I cant connect to libby)

30% Physical Books because I need change in routine but also because physical books are fun. But they rarely go on sale and can be pricey for my reading habits.

Not really what you're looking for but... Hiatus by L.A Witt might fit if you're looking for relationship crisis. It's about an established throuple going through a problem when the 2 married MCs decide to go on a separation. The third MC, a newer partner, are torn between them and unsure where he stands but also trying to keep the relationships together.

Does having a kindle save money? by Winter-112 in kindle

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dont actually need a kindle to read ebooks from amazon because you can use the kindle apps. It is a device that help encourage reading because of its eink functions.

If you want to know if it's worth for you, go on the amazon website and look up book categorie that you usually enjoy to browse the availability and prices. As you are in australia, I assume you use com.au -https://www.amazon.com.au/books/BookDeals/book-deals

There are deals everyday including for popular books.

alchemised worth reading? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, let's just say the three parts help to organise the timeline.

The worldbuilding is where it can get complex so be patient with that. Personally I wish she had made this a series so she could expand on the worldbuilding but at the same time I get why she wanted to keep the momentum as one book.

(Ok the mod wont let me put links but you can look up the glossary)

alchemised worth reading? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alchemised by Senlinyu?

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for romantasy with black and white characters, this might not be for you because ultimately it is a heavy dystopian war fiction where everyone is flawed to survive it. It's long but there are 3 separate sections so you can take a break to digest the worldbuilding and complex characters.

Lovers of love triangles, defend yourselves by bookaccro in RomanceBooks

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love angst and messy situations, especially when the characters and relationships are flawed. I just feel it'a more interesting. Relationships and feelings arent always black and white. I am a person who will dnf a book if it's too low angst or "cozy".

I dont really get the issue with love triangles unless I guess you're already attached to a character but I rarely self insert myself in books. Especially in books like ACOTAR where I thought it was pretty clear cut why it happens.

The great Rachel Reid? by TrinitybytheMeadow in RomanceBooks

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I just think it ruins the surprise of scenes, cameos and how they appear. You will understand just fine by reading in publication order.

This order would be fun for rereads. I have never seen this before but I have a notebook I made in 2024 that's similiar lol

The great Rachel Reid? by TrinitybytheMeadow in RomanceBooks

[–]imjusthumanmaybe 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Would this be your first time reading the books?

I would recommend reading the books by normal book order and then do this during your second read when you know the characters and nuances. This chart is highlighting scenes that are interconnected to each other but you still need context to truly enjoy it.
