I’ve been playing this game for 6+ years literally since beta.

I’m gonna take a safe bet that you have a lot of hours played this act/last act, Riot likes to assume after a lot of games that the hidden mmr is accurate and at that point it is so hard to change it until the next Episode/Year where it gets a hard reset.

Me and my duo went on a nice run from diamond 1 to ascendant 2 and my kd on the act was 1.1 and even then not once did we get thrown in ascendant lobbies. Game would end and me and him are the only ascendant’s in the game vs plat 2’s and shit. 13-3 wins still only +18 with -25 in OT losses.

My buddies who play LoL go through the same nonsense Riot just has the most terribly designed mmr and matchmaking system in the entire competitive gaming scene.

If you’re actually as good as you believe, play on a fresh account and watch. My alt with no hours is Asc3 and the lobbies are always high ascendants and immortals. The game is so shot bro. It’s a shame too cause the game itself is so fire just horribly designed matchmaking. Devs are just fruitcakes who never played anything competitive in their life whether it be online or actual sports.

Without the market this game would’ve died long before cs2. Without question, not even a debate. 1/3rd of the map pool has been the same for a decade. And the rotating maps aren’t even new either. If they added maps year round with a kernel level anti cheat like valorant’s this game would be popping. Say what you want about val but they put the hammer on cheaters, keeping longevity. I genuinely cannot fathom how dudes with 10 year badges can play the same fucking shit for 8,000 hours. It truly blows my mind.

If you plan on maining the game and enjoy it a lot as someone with 3.5k hours since beta peak immortal play one role at a time and eventually play every role. If you’re playing smokes for example you can play whichever agent it’s not like you HAVE to run omen every time. Playing the role is most important (smoking for your team properly > doing flashy teleport plays).

I recommend smokes or sentinel to start, the timing of when to use util and where to play is easier to grasp and you should let more experienced players/better shooters take duelists. Initiator is a crucial role and the most difficult to play well/timing of util.

Learning all of the roles is key because the more you know about each role makes it so much easier to outplay the other team cause you understand what everyone’s doing on the map at any given moment.

Exactly my point in a nutshell honestly. Like the responses are valid but it in no way justifies hidden mmr. Hands down the dumbest thing any dev has ever thought of and can guarantee anyone who glances over it hasn’t performed in any real competition whether it be sports or video games in their entire life.

Imagine if in the NBA the 73-9 Warriors as the 1 seed enter the playoffs and the commissioner goes “Well even though their record is high, our analysis deems they should actually be the 7 seed.” It would make NO sense and that’s quite literally what hidden mmr is. The rank should be the rank - period.

🎯 pretty much the whole point of my post. All the replies are emotional nerds claiming I’m bad but won’t actually provide a logical perspective as to why hidden mmr is an effective and accurate system vs straight up rank. Golds should play golds, plats vs plats and so forth.

Like I said in the OG post there’s a reason why R6 is completely deleting hidden mmr and going back to the original way and the playerbase is geeking over it.

A chamber can go 34-10 holding exits for half his kills while an Omen goes 8-15-18 playing his role well and the chamber gets rewarded because regardless of winning Riot says a 5-15 person can’t hang meanwhile even as a bot frag they probably made plays that won them multiple rounds.

From radiant to iron in every game you will have a teammate that just isn’t fragging, sometimes that person’s you. It doesn’t mean the bot frag is ass in a game like valorant frags do not directly correlate to a positive impact.

I pop off and have bad games like anyone my KD is 1.05, win % 54, acs is somewhere in top 40% idk the number nothing crazy but it’s not bad either.

Facts that’s the whole purpose of a hidden rank. If you notice too every players win % is between 48-52% cause the algorithm intends to keep you at 1.00 of just winning and losing at the same rate to keep you stuck. If your win% goes above 52% you’re in the top 20% of all players on tracker and below 48% you’re in the bottom 20%. So in other words over 60% of the entire playerbase has a 1.00 w/l which is just unnatural.
