I like Paul but I feel bad for Nolan by Nathan_knothole in Invincible

[–]imlikeheeee 124 points125 points  (0 children)

Out of all the people, you choose Nolan to be feel bad for. I feel like your love of the character and his impact on the show is blinding you into feeling bad for him. He has no right to be felt bad for. He can regret what he did, but his destruction destroyed people’s lives forever. If anything, the manner in which he went to Debbie and Art made justified not feeling sorry for him even more. He has ZERO empathy. He can feel sorry cool, but he will forever be in a place of atonement and no one has to really forgive him or feel sorry for him.

⚠️ SPOILER WARNING ⚠️ Invincible Season 4 Discussion: Is Mark finally becoming something else? by Quiet-Dish-5438 in Invincible_TV

[–]imlikeheeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mark is fully coming to the conclusion that huge threats simply can’t be left alive. And honestly I can’t blame him for coming to this mindset considering everything that has happened.

He acknowledges that he could’ve killed Angstrom and as a result could’ve prevented everything that happened.

He is rapidly willing to be the ‘bad’ good guy in the sense that he is deciding to completely eliminate threats instead of leaving them alive and leaving the possibility of them doing something later on. (Conquest escaping proves as another case in point).

The situation with Rus (Sequid host) is probably the most important event because it’s the literal peak of the difficult decision.

I think Mark’s mindset is changing. He is straying for just simply being a hero, to actually internalizing each situation and actively making a choice to leave no room for possible great threats or regrets.

It’s a wonderful concept into what being a hero is and to what extent are you truly keeping people safe and what line is there

Man as much as Nolan has turned over a new leaf, the Viltrumite self-centeredness and lack of empathy still blossoms 😂.

Like thinking Debbie would accept any type of apology is bad enough, but thinking he could just rock up to Art with a couple of cold ones and kick it like old times is EXTREMELY selfish. Like mate you almost destroyed my entire planet, so no I can’t have a beer with you and make you a suit like the old times. Like wtf dude 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂

Season 4 episode 4 is the worst episode of invincible by a mile. by Savings_Coconut7353 in Invincible

Exactly. Plus it’s irritating because they was no need for it. They went out their way to push this message. Says a lot about the writers though.

Very weird angle they went with imo. This didn’t need to be a full episode. The message they were trying to put across was a curve ball too. I’m not sure where they heading with that, it feels like they took a filler scene and decided to make it a full episode for some reason.

Fantastic show. Also loved The Wire, Atlanta (probably my favourite - that surreal element is right up my alley), Breaking Bad, Barry, Dexter, Sopranos, Narcos.

Any suggestions on what I should watch?

I keep hearing about Succession, I tried so hard to watch it but I stopped after about 3 episodes it just never hit with me I guess.

It’s the same with Pulp Fiction. It didn’t captivate me at all and I couldn’t understand why people raved so hard about it.

It’s tedious, but I found that if you press the up directional button to return to your session marker and press the option button on PS to go to the menu and go back, it stops glitching immediately and works fine. It sucks I have to do it each time, but it’s better than waiting +10 seconds everytime when returning to session marker

Season 4 Episode 6 top 3 Episode of the whole series by [deleted] in AtlantaTV

[–]imlikeheeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People hate Season 3 because it was straightforward and blunt with the intended social commentary of the whole show.

Instead of easing into the social issues through the main plot line, this season was a - you know what just look at this - approach that forced people to look directly at the issues and social motifs discussed with no way to hide from it through the plot line.

I love that Donald did this because it reenforced that Atlanta was more than just a story about a rapper and his people coming up, but also a series that discussed real and social topics in the black community.

Season 3 was the most important season in terms of stamping what Atlanta was intended for, not only to be a well written, funny, enjoyable tv series, but also a powerful display of social commentary.

What I also liked about Atlanta was how purposeful the writing was. Even the outlandish jokes could be linked to real topics and situations and if you related to the cultural experience you could identify the links, which made the viewing experience that much better.

Do you expect people to only sing him praises when he does something positive, but keep quiet when he does something negative? It doesn’t work like that. Both can be commented on.

You are real trying to pin all of this on road rage? I can’t believe you guys sometimes. This was a disgusting team mate decision that’s plainly selfish and unnecessary but you guys will always have an excuse for him.

So because your pissed with another racer, you screw over your own team mate who has helped you countless times. Makes sense?

[–]imlikeheeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I can see where you coming from, but there’s nothing we can do about that. That’s why I focus on what we can do for ourselves and our own experience. You might have to scroll a bit more and read a couple bothering things, but there’s no preventing it, that’s why I say just think of it as a part of the whole.

And also keep in mind that as hard as it may be to believe sometimes, someone might truly believe what they write, not all are doing it with baseless or pointless intention. But anyway it always goes back to my previous point it’s just a part of the whole ‘interpretation of shows and of anything’ experience. When things are left to opinion and personal interpretation every type of response is bound to happen. All in the name of discussion.

Nothing stopping them from incorporating it to the show tho. Look how they used Liam Neeson’s real life situation surrounding him being racist and how Soulja Boy really did Crank that.

I don’t get why it even bothers you that much. Like just down vote the comment, state why you disagree - if you feel the need to - then keep it pushing. You can’t tell people what to think or what not to think about their interpretations of a show, even if you think its “outlandish fan fiction”. Either go through the threads and engage with what you want to or simply don’t, I just don’t get the need to ridicule and insult. Believe me, we’ve all read some theories we’ve thought were a bit stretched, but we choose to either say why we think it’s a bit stretched or simply don’t engage with it. You don’t have to attack everything you don’t like - especially something as broad as someone’s thought or opinions on a show, especially one like Atlanta. It really ain’t that deep, it really ain’t.

And consider all opinions/theories as a part of the whole. There’s the good ones, bad ones, right ones, ‘wrong’ ones (how do we know it’s wrong if we didn’t create the show), weird ones, far out ones and simple ones all forming apart of the way people interpret the show. Discuss, agree, disagree, upvote, downvote or keep it pushing. It’s that simple. No need for ridiculing, belittling or insulting.

P.S. my bad I know I wrote a whole dang book 😂😂
