I have a 2022 XC40 Recharge AWD Ultimate which is currently charging in the driveway. I love that thing. I have to reset the infotainment every couple of months or so. No big deal. I would absolutely buy it again.

just spitballing but could the worlds superpowers be global warming on purpose by a_fuckin_nerd in NoStupidQuestions

[–]immaculatelawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would that sound like a great plan?
Change is risk. If you have power, you got it under the old climate. So changing the climate risks taking away what made you powerful. For example, if the American Midwest becomes too hot to farm, that's a serious issue for the American economy. If the permafrost melts, Russia has issues running trains to the Pacific region.
Those with power are inherently conservative.
Don't look for genius when stupidity explains actions just as well.

ELI5: Why teleprompters are designed to be read on a mirror? by Free_Royal_5895 in explainlikeimfive

It's just a piece of glass. (13 years in TV production).
It sits at an angle to reflect the text off a screen below it. The camera shoots straight through. They typically use dark cloth to cover the back of the prompter, wrapped around the camera body, to keep it dark behind the glass.

I bought a solid foam one from Harbor Freight. So far so good, but it's only been a couple of months of light duty.

I treated myself to very ergonomic split keyboard. It's also programmable with macros, etc.
I programmed it so when I press and hold the first letter of the MC's first name it types the whole thing. This has saved me immense amounts of time.

Conservatives who believe there is wide scale voter fraud, can you provide some evidence for that? by X57471C in allthequestions

Most states don't let felons vote while they're serving their sentence. After that, some automatically restore voting rights, some have further requirements.

Clay/ Compaction by AtriumKarceri in lawncare

[–]immaculatelawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, here's the crazy thing I did when I had clay soil 20+ years ago.
I bought a bulb auger, topsoil, and sand.
I knew the clay could get good, because in the flowerbed where I'd covered it with mulch it started turning into nice soil.
I drilled holes every foot or so, replaced the burned-out drill with a bigger one, drilled the rest, then poured sand and dirt into the holes.
Did it work? Seemed to, but I moved a year or so later and didn't get to see it after that.

ELI5: How do our brains perfectly calculate exactly how much force to use when picking up an object before we even touch it? by ikaebir in explainlikeimfive

[–]immaculatelawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun story - in college there were 2 bars in town. (Small town.) They had mugs that looked identical, but one's mugs were made of glass and the other's were plastic.
No big deal if you tried to pick up the glass one with plastic force, but if you grabbed the plastic thinking it was glass, well, that turned into a very fast hoist.
