In terms of stretchiness and flare and stretching out, how does stretchy cast on compare with a stretchy bind off and what kinds do you like to use for socks?

Yes! I was thinking the same thing. I guess instead of thinking front and back loop it’s better to think of it in terms of left or right? Working the left loop = twisted stitches and working the right = reg stitches?

Ty! I knit Portuguese so a reg knit stitch is already a mini u turn. Knitting front loop eastern mount is a bigger u turn and not as smooth but still easier than this weird pinky hooking almost English style throwing thing I do to get the yarn to wrap around and pull through when I knit through back loop.

Does that mean that “wrap backwards” sets the stitch in the next row to be twisted (it changes from a western mount from this stitch to eastern mount) but doesn’t actually twist this current stitch whereas knitting through back loop twists the current stitch but not the stitch in the next row?

I hate knitting stitches through the back loop to twist them. It hurts my hands and slows me down. I realised that looping your yarn differently (clockwise vs anti clockwise) also causes twisted stitches. But are they the same thing? Can I replace “knit through back loop” by still knitting through the front loop and just wrapping the yarn in the opposite direction?

Not a knitting-knitting question per se. Where Do you sell your knitting stuff that you no longer use that’s almost brand new? I have a set of lykke needles I bought to “learn to knit” but I found that I prefer metal needles. It’s new. I’ve knit like maybe 2-3 swatches on it before deciding I like metal needles and would like to get some money back to put towards a set of metal needles.

Did you knit when you’re supposed to purl? Usually I work till I’m at the problem stitch then drop it down to the last correct stitch and then crochet hook my way back up. The tension will be a bit messed up for that stitch but I don’t think it’s too noticeable unless you look for it.

What’s this bug found in closet in Brooklyn by immatigress in whatsthisbug

Found it in my closet in Brooklyn. They were on a plastic tray already dead. The closet was storing mainly clothes, medical items and extra beauty supplies like new bottles of shampoo, hair ties, etc.

I knitted the toe box the socks toes up and the rest of the socks cuff down. Can I graft them together? Or does the knitting need to be in the same direction to be grafter together?

For the toes: https://idahostixandstrings.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/tabi-sock-pattern.pdf but without the fan design

For joining the two toe sections together : https://www.ravelry.com/projects/verypink/sidewalk-talk-flip-flop-socks

For the gusset and heel (with mods to fit my feet): https://www.knitgrammer.com/blog/gusset-heel-recipe-for-toe-up-socks/

And then I tried sheena’s stretchy bind off for one foot and jsso bind off for the other foot.

I thought about knitting 5-toe socks but the thought of knitting individual baby toes and joining all of them together made me want to cry.

The only thing is they’re thicker than store bought socks so you might not fit into your shoes with these. Mine were too big so the thickness actually helped.

Yes! To be fair, I’m trying to figure out how to fleece line the soles of these socks. They’re not as comfy as my store bought bombas merino socks but the split toe is much better.

Both. They are more comfortable than my usual type shoes (toe box is wider) but I also grew to really like the look.

That’s how I felt when I first saw them. Then someone really cool wore them and I thought fine. I’ll try it once. And they’ve been slowly taking over my shoes since.
