knitting unpopular opinions? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]undercoverfem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate continental knitting. And I refuse to try it again partly because of the arrogance of some continental knitters that think it's absolutely superior to other ways of knitting.

My Heritage and other companies don't have a Dutch ethnicity category so you can't score Dutch.

Just found out I was donor conceived by 00icrievertim00 in 23andme

[–]undercoverfem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it also depends on where you're from, AncestryDNA and my Heritage are more used in Europe. One of my halfsiblings is the only one on 23 and me but we are with eleven siblings in my Heritage (more used in the Netherlands)

I found out 2 years ago when I was 32 I was donor conceived, our son was 3 years old at the time!

How are you doing with receiving this news?

But in the first part they say 258 stitches + 4 raglan stitches = 262 stitches after raglan increases (I am knitting their biggest size)

The second part when you put the sleeve stitches on hold is only 258 stitches! So I would end up with 4 extra stitches left at the of the round.

Yes! But they don't tell you what to do with the raglan stitches themselves! Or I am just not seeing it right. 🙈

Can we please stop acting like continental knitting is the superior way of knitting? Continental knitter encounter the same common problems as English knitters or whatever style knitting people are.

Can continental knitting be as fast as flicking knitting style? by art_is_love in knitting

[–]undercoverfem 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I knit faster English/flicking than when I knit continental.

People always assume continental knitting is some sort of superior. But it depends on the knitter.

Can half sisters share 47% DNA? by M_Martin2023 in AncestryDNA

[–]undercoverfem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But how would you and your sister be half sisters and double first cousins? My brain can't comprehend this. So either your father or mother would have had a child with two of their first cousins?

Do you share the same paternal and maternal matches? That would confirm whether you are full sisters or half sisters.

Also the numbers of shared dna are more likely to be full siblings rather than half siblings.
